Happy 4th of July

July 4th, 2009

Hope you have a wonderful weekend full of food, family, friends and fireworks! We enjoyed our fireworks last night and had a small get-together with friends here at Chiot’s Run.

Have an online garden friend making a garden visit this morning which will start the day off right. Planning to harvest a mess of new potatoes to make a large potato salad plus probably will bring in some zucchini as well to grill with the beef franks. Strawberry rhubarb crisp with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Later in the evening, we will head to our local communities fireworks on the bay celebration.

We had a street party in our road yesterday, got to know my neighbours and talked to them. Some of us have been living in the same street for more than 20 years and never talked!

Hope your 4th was wonderful :-) I spent it with my family raspberry picking and then making jars of raspberry jam, getting cucumbers brining for pickling today, and…. enjoying the first day without ANY rain in a long time!

Hope you had agreat 4th. Mine started with a 4.2 mile roadrace. Then a trip to the farmer’s market to stock up. After a lazy afternoon, a visit to the arts & wine festival, followed by a music concert in the park and fireworks.

What a great way to celebrate! I like to run races as well. I didn’t get up early enough to make it to the farmer’s market since we had a party the night before and chatted by the fire into the wee hours of the morning.
