Quote of the Day: Morning
I can see the orange haze on the horizon as the morning
exhales a yawn, and seems to be ready to rise.
~Jeb Dickerson
Mr Chiots and I usually aren’t early risers. We are usually up working late into the night and we sleep until we wake up in the morning, generally around 8-8:30. A couple weeks ago we were up before the sun (at 3:45 am) for a road trip.
Mr Chiots managed to snap these photos while zipping along the bumpy back country roads at 55 mph (he wasn’t driving). Not the clearest photos, but they still convey the beauty of the sunrise that morning. It was particularly foggy that morning in the low-lying areas which made the sunrise all the more beautiful.
Are you up early enough to see the sunrise?

Not by choice. Except in the winter, when the sun rises at 7:30 a.m.

Often I am. It gets too hot in August to be out much later. Beautiful pictures even with the 55mph driving speed.

I’ve taken to getting up just before sunrise in order to get an hour or so of work done in the garden (before melting in the heat). But since I still can’t manage to get to bed before midnight on many days I find myself sneaking a short nap! But with our 100 degree plus temperatures it is the only way I can get myself to do any gardening.
What has surprised me is how much I have come to enjoy that dawn quiet time. It is a beautiful time of day.

Not on purpose :) I much prefer late evenings to early mornings….unfortunately my dear husband is the exact opposite.
(we have nice lunches together!)

The only way I get some quiet is to be up before the sun (and the kids). I keep meaning to step outside and enjoy the sunrise. You’ve inspired me.

We all see the sunrise every morning. Luckily, my family all get up early so there is no contention. It really started with the kids…they got up at dawn’s crack. It sort of stuck so we all get up in the dark now…I cna’t imagine not doing that!

It is the only time during the day that I have any quiet time…I love my five kids and adore my hubby but sometime during the day I just need the quiet, even if is for only a short time at sunrise…
A cup of tea and the first morning light is enough to get me through my usually crazy days!
Fun pictures, Kim

I’m more of a coffee person in the morning.

Gosh, all these early risers! I have been up with the sun on occasion, and the sunrise is certainly worth it. However, my first thought on wakening is usually, “Must. Have. Tea.”

I saw these on your flickr, sorry to hear about your Grandma’s passing.
Although I find morning beautiful my body doesn’t feel the same way. I’m more or a sunset person. With that said my favorite setting would have to be the sun rising over a misty lake.

Every weekday. My alarm goes off at 5 am on work days and I am off and running for the day. On weekends, I typically can sleep until 7:30 or 8:30 and try to do so for the purposes of “catching up” on the deficit of sleep I end up with each week. I am a morning person by nature, so I am at my best energy and mental capacity in the morning and am pretty much mental mush by late evening! LOL!

My husband works second shift so I often wait up for him to get home…which means that we much prefer getting up at 8am or later…although our children have other ideas.
