Behind the Scenes

November 20th, 2009

I hate to have my picture taken and I’m not a fan of seeing pictures of myself either. I’m much more comfortable being the one behind the camera. I’ve been sorting through my photos and I found some Mr Chiots has taken of me. As much as I hate to see photos of myself, I figured you might like to see a few of the person that’s usually behind the scenes here at Chiot’s Run.

Oh! you are a comic! Maybe the elephant was shy?
Nice to see who is behind the words, myself I’m OK with family photos enjoyed by family, but that’s the limit. Like reading your blog.

You are beautiful inside and out. Celebrate who you are, by being in photos. Women have this avoidance of pictures, and we need to change that. Its important that you are in the pictures too, because the pictures are not about or for you, they are for your kids. You don’t want them looking through old pictures and asking “Where was mommy?”

For every event make sure you are in at least one picture.

I’m like you, I don’t enjoy having my picture taken very much. My family and I do have pictures of course, but even then it seems better if they are unplanned, and I don’t even know the picture is being taken. It’s nice to put a face to your words though. The second picture you posted seems very calming and just content.

No. I think there are maybe three photos of me on my site. But that’s mostly because no one else in the house knows how to use the camera. Okay by me.

I like the puppy photo. It looks like some kind of L.L. Bean advertisement.

It’s always nice to put a face with a post! I was wondering where the kiddos got all that beautiful red hair! I was expecting more red. Does Mr Chiot’s have red hair? You have a beautiful family.

It’s good to see a face behind the blog! The elephant picture looked pretty scary by the way! I’m not fan of my picture being taken but sometimes it’s necessary I guess.

I absolutely HATE having my photo taken. I go hyper-critical every time I see a photo of myself. It seems the camera always catches me slumping or squinting or with my hair standing straight up. If I see a camera pointed my direction I become instantly self conscious. I’ve been trying harder lately because I know it is not fair to my kids not to have memories of their mom in the piles. But I still hate it.
Thanks for the peek. These photos show your happiness.

I am loving that elephant photo. I also love how happy you look in your photos, your spirit really shines through.

I am pretty ambivalent about having my photo taken, but I think it is important to have a visual record. My mother was always hiding behind the camera when I was growing up so I have literally no photos of the two of us or even just her because of it. I want to have photos like that for my children because of that.

I absolutely hate it and didn’t even really realize it until I was going through some pictures the other day and realized that there are only a handful of me in there. I probably should get better about that, but it doesn’t help that I’m always the one taking the pictures.

I absolutly hate my picture being taken.. My mom asked for a picture a few months ago, I found only one in my I-photo from this summer, that is out of 9800 photos from our households photos. Your pictures were beautiful and full of energy!

You seem very photogenic so enjoy ! You look lovely on every pic. (Great dimples, btw !)
Unlike you, I’m not at all photogenic and have always despised having my picture taken. Now more than ever as I get older.

Having the picture taken isn’t so bad…it’s seeing the results that hurt.

i’ve made peace with being snapped and just smile broadly when someone asks to take a photo – I’ve learnt it’s much easier than resisting and hating all the pics of you because you’re grimacing. These days they mostly turn out ok and my husband has a nack of capturing the best smiles (usually because he’s doing something daft to make me smile!)

Susy, you are one of the most photogenic people I know. You and Mr. Chiots are both blessed with GREAT smiles.

Mr Chiots is the same way, I don’t really have a photo of him where he’s not making funny face.
