The First Snow of the Season

December 23rd, 2009

We had our first snowfall on Friday night, we woke up Saturday to a bit of a mess outside. Unfortunately, we had to drive to a few rural areas and the roads were less than ideal.

It snowed more throughout the day on Saturday and into Sunday morning. I woke up Sunday to the most beautiful sunny day with the ground coated in a blanket of fluffy white snow. It was beautiful! This is the kind of snow that everyone dreams of having on Christmas day. Since we celebrated Christmas on Sunday with my family we had a white Christmas.

It always helps me get into the holiday spirit when there’s snow on the ground. It lifts my spirits and makes me happy. I think part of the reason I love it so much is because it makes the days so much brighter!

My Christmas decor looks even better now that there’s some snow on the ground!

What helps get you into the holiday spirit?

The snow really is beautiful. What makes me happy about this time of year – I’d have to say the sunny days and light on the snow. I despise the cold, but being in the house/car and seeing that glow brings a smile to my face.

The scenery is what I miss about living in a rural area, but I can always visit your blog when I feel that way. Enjoy the snow. We have had several snows, but nothing to drastic. I loved the huge snowfalls when I was a kid, and no not because they cancelled school, because they didn’t. I loved the snowfalls cause I had a sled dog.

You’re lucky! The weather forecasters always keep the possibility of snow alive in the forecast but it rarely arrives for Christmas.

re dog sleds, I met a paraplegic veteran once who had four Huskies in front of his wheelchair. They were all making REALLY good time and all five of them were wearing a grin.

I have a set of the complete Handel’s Messiah in period instrumentation, on wax, and a few bars into the overture and I Have The Spirit. :D

It was such a beautiful snow if we had to have it but like it better than the rain or ice that may be coming our way.
Your house looks so pretty with the decorations and the snow.
Wishing you greetings for a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

An evening walking through the neighborhood to check out the Christmas light displays puts me in the holiday spirit.

Your pictures are beautiful – the snow was an added bonus. Merry Christmas to you.

Great shots Susy! I am starting to miss the snow. We have only had a few dusting’s so far, I can still see lawn! As much as it is a pain to clear I want some already! If anything I just want to play with the snowblower :-) Happy Holidays to you and the mister!
