Taking a Day Off
I’m taking the day off today. I spent the day yesterday driving down to my grandma’s house with my mom to go through a few boxes of things. We had a good time chatting with my uncle & cousin and laughing about old memories. After eight hours driving and five hours chatting with family and we made it home with a few priceless memories in the trunk, I was too tired when I got home late last night to write anything meaningful or exciting. Never fear though, I wouldn’t leave you without some great photos to look at. We’ve been having beautiful weather here in Ohio, it’s been sunny and in the mid 60’s during the day. Our windows have been open and one of our cats, Dexter, loves it. Here he is enjoying a restful day warming himself in the sun in the open window – he’s in kitty heaven!
I figured you’d like these photos, Dexter’s a quirky cat, always sleeping with is leg off the windowsill.
Hope you’re enjoying some nice weather wherever today finds you.
Dexter looks like a happy cat! We have two, and they can be so entertaining. Hope you get some good rest. FYI tomorrow and Saturday are good Moon planting days.

Dexter looks wonderfully happy. I am glad you are taking a rest. Much needed after a long day yesterday.
I am just learning and looking at the moon planting this year (like Louise mentioned). I think yesterday was a good day too for above ground veggies. I transplanted some chard and hope to do a bit more of something today and tomorrow too. We are expecting 32F and 34F Sat/Sun nights, so I don’t want to get too carried away. Just itching to plant….but waiting another week would be better……
Have a nice quiet day

Dexter is one ‘phat’ cat ;) Is that a mini citrus tree in the pic?

Yes, it is a citrus. My mom and I started this tree from a seed 10-15 years go. I’m ordering a proper “mini” tree so I can get some fruit (hopefully) and this one will be give to a friend to bonsai.

One of my cats does that too–no matter where she is sleeping she always has one paw (front or back) stuck straight out.

My cat is Dexter too, an orange tabby with a v-neck sweater and a white dickie. He was left by the previous owners of our farmhouse and I decided he needed a name fitting his upward move to people who would never abandon him. Thus he is C.K. Dexter Haven, named after the Cary Grant character in The Philadelphia Story. He even has his own set on Flickr.

Love it when pets have reasons behind their names. Our Dexter was named after the TV show “Dexter”. We named him this when we thought he was going to be out outdoor cat and be a serial killer of chipmunks. But alas he’s a softie indoor cat that never gets to hunt.
