Chistmas Gifts in the Garden

April 5th, 2010

Mr Chiots and I don’t have children, but we have 3 nieces and a nephew (my sister’s children). You’ve probably seen photos of them if you’ve been reading this blog for a while (here are some more of their Christmas photos if you’d like to see them).

For Christmas they made me mosaic stepping stones for my garden. I’ve been waiting for the weather to be nice enough to put them out. Since it looks like the hard freezes are over, I put them in the garden yesterday. One of the stones has their names on it and the other is a small flower shaped stone. Both are jeweled with colorful pieces of glass.

These will be perfect to put in the garden to give me a place to step so I don’t compact the soil. I’m not traditionally a garden ornament kind of person, but I do love these.

Do you have any decorations/ornaments in your gardens?

Beautiful stepping stones. I have stepping stones in the garden, but nothing this pretty. Other than that, I just plant a few flowers in the garden for contrast and beauty.

super sweet :) I’m not a garden decor person either, but if my niece or nephews were to make me some of these they would definitely go in the garden :)

We have two pieces of garden decór: one gnome, yes a gnome, that a friend gave to us as a housewarming gift and a teal, cartoon-like tropical bird’s head made of wood – we call the bird St. Croix.

What a thoughtful and creative gift!

I was just out in the gardens tonight picking through some of the garden “art” saying that I needed to “weed” some of it out. It gets weathered and I get a bit tired of it. The majority of it is repurposed “finds” so I never spend much on it. I like to add a little character to the gardens and that does the trick for me.

Absolutely precious. I treasure sentimental gifts like that… give me handmade over store-bought any day. Your nieces and nephew are so cute! : ) Melissa
