The Last Tulips
The last tulips to bloom in my garden are my ‘Mickey Mouse’ tulips. Normally I don’t like red and yellow flowers, but I do love these. They’re a great send off to the blooming spring bulbs. Not long after they fade the peonies will start their show. So here’s to the tulips and the lovely spring show they provide us each spring. Enjoy these photos of the last of the spring tulips here at Chiot’s Run.
What’s the last spring bulb to bloom in your garden?

The daffodils, then it’s a big fat wait until something else pops up. Wait, do dandelions count? I seriously need to put in more flowers. Food just takes a higher satisfaction-priority for me.

Nice! I have one tulip left but suspect it will drop it’s petals today. The summer bloomers like gladiolas and Asiatic lilies are putting on their foliage right now. Getting ready for the next scene.

I think it used to be the Hyacinths, but I haven’t seen them this year. A lot of the area where they used to be planted was taken up by my husband so we’d have space for the berry bushes and strawberries. I’m beginning to think they got lost along the way somewhere.

The only tulips I have are a couple species ones that are just starting to bloom now. Wish I had more but the squirrels eat them all. I’d love to try out some of the parrot tulips this fall!

Spanish bluebells. Thanks for showing ‘Mickey Mouse’ tulips. I work for the local parks, and I’ve eyed that variety in the catalogs, figuring I’d try it some day. Maybe next year!
