Oh No – Flaky Internet

January 22nd, 2011

My super expensive business class extra speedy internet from Time Warner is flaking out on me, deleted a post I wrote for today *GRRRRRR* so I’m hoping I can get this posted quickly – hopefully it starts working soon.

Don’t you just hate it when you’re paying top dollar for something that doesn’t work like it’s supposed to?

The one that causes me consternation is the Direct TV during storms. I understand why reception frequently fails but if I’m stuck inside during a heavy blowing snow or driving rain, I’d like to be able to watch the news. There probably isn’t a solution to the problem except improving weather.

I’m glad our DSL and router work just fine, haven’t really have had much problems with it, we got it through our phone company (FINALLY!), we’ve tried other phone companies and they said we can’t get it in our area then we switched phone companies and they said we could get it in our area.

Ah, technology, how did we get so hooked on technology that now we can’t live without it? I love technology …. when it works. I’ve just gone through my 4th generation of computer change with all new ways to do everything. Some things don’t work all the way it used to and others are buried in some other place which takes hours to find. Don’t you just love a whole new learning curve? NOT. It is the way life is in this time. Nothing remains the same, everything will need to be replaced more often, and technology will fail. When that happens I just go back to a good book from my library. I haven’t had one of those fail ever in 60+ years. Imagine that.

Have a great working technology day.

Unfortunately, it seems like most things I buy these days don’t last or don’t work. It is very frustrating. We’ve been moving to simpler and more old fashioned stuff for this very reason. Less plastic and fewer moving parts hopefully means an heirloom quality item.
