Quote of the Day: Lao Tzu
Be empty. Be still.
Just watch everything come and go.
This is the way of Nature.
– Lao Tzu
May 1, how quickly time seems to go. This time of year when things get hectic and busy both at work and in the garden I need to remember this quote. I must remember to stop during my chores and take notice of those things around me so I don’t miss them! At the moment I’m really appreciating life in the garden. After winter I love hearing the buzzing of insects, seeing the green in the grass and the colors of the flowers.
What are you appreciating right now?

Yesterday as I was doing some garden clean-up,I noticed a few little miracles of nature. Ordinary things really, but so incredibly beautiful to me after a long Northeast winter. First I found a little white pine sapling growing in the crook of a giant oak tree. Then in the vegetable garden, I noticed an old orange cherry tomatoe skin with about 20 seedling emerging from it. Nothing extra spectacular, yet i am always amazed by nature especially in the spring.

Great quote :)
I too try to capture natures beautiful moments, especially when working in the garden. We are surrounded by Mother Earth’s miracles in all different sizes, we just need to take the time to look. I feel that it’s a sign of respect to take a moment to acknowledge the wonder of these miracles.

Right now I am appreciating the symphony of birds that starts up around 6ish am. It drives my boyfriend nuts but I love it. The other day I stopped my car in the middle of the alley because a little black bird was bathing in a puddle. It looked like it was enjoying life so much, batting it’s wings wildly, splashing around like a kid through a sprinkler. I just sat in my car and watched him for 5 minutes , until it flew up in a tree to dry in the sun. I felt in harmony with nature just then.

Well, i must be honest..I’m not appreciating the flies! I am appreciating warm sun and cool breezes…hard work and hope…my family…and a little more time with Rosie, my cat that I’ve known longer than I’ve known my husband. xo

I appreciate your photo of a gross, hairy fly and the fact that I don’t live anywhere near where tornadoes form.

Yes, the flies, though annoying, are an important part of nature. I’m also thankful I don’t live where the tornados were, we don’t get many of those in Ohio!

I really like that quote. I really enjoy this time of year. I love watching the simple & little changes everyday out in the garden and out in the yard. Not too thrilled with a few bug infestations this early, but I know it is nature 9that doesn’t always help though!)
