D is for _______________

August 5th, 2011

DEMANDING – I demand a lot of myself and have high expectations in everything I do. Although I’m learning to cut myself some slack and appreciate imperfections.

DETERMINED – When I set my mind to something nothing can sway me. Because of this I have tremendous will power.

DO-IT-MYSELFER – We’re building our own camper, don’t think I need to explain this one any further.

DREAMER – I dream of having a small farm some day with some chickens, miniature burros and some Scottish Highland cows. I even have a board on Pinterest titled “The Farm in my Mind” with inspiration and a savings account named “The Good Life Fund”.

DISTRUSTFUL – I’m fairly distrustful of government organizations (like the EPA, FDA & the USDA) and many corporations (like Monsanto, Cargill, big pharma) and the dictocrats that tell us what we should be doing. After much reading and research I’m finding that all the stuff they tell us to eat is really bad for us and all the stuff they tell us not to eat is usually good for us – like egg yolks, bacon, butter, saturated fat from pastured animals, cheese, etc. This is probably why I’m cynical and a love conspiracy theories as I mentioned yesterday.

DIVERGENT – Because of my distrust mentioned above, I have very divergent views on things – especially food, eating & health.

DILIGENT – When I set my mind to something I’m very diligent about getting it done and accomplishing my goals. I can be very focused, sometimes to the detriment of other areas in my life.

DYSFUNCTIONAL – aren’t we all in some way, shape or form?

DEEPLY CONVICTED – about the food I eat and where it comes from.

What words/phrases describe you that start with a D?

So far, you sound like you are describing me. I have exactly the same traits as you. BTW, I notice on your dream farm that you will have llamas. Consider miniature lllamas. That is what I raise and they are awesome animals, sweet natured, intelligent, inquisitive, gentle and have wonderful fiber for spinning.

It is your blog and you can write whatever you want. But as a reader following this blog everyday for the last few weeks I thought I would send across some ‘F’ for feed back. I find this alphabet business way too boring especially since the ‘G’ for gardening stuff has completely dropped off. Hope you can take a bit of ‘C’ for Criticism.

Thanks for the feedback, sorry you feel that way. There is a reason I’m doing this challenge and you’ll find out at the end of the month. You can come back in September and start reading again if you want to read more about gardening.

I really enjoy your blog. I’m afraid I went a little nuts when I checked out your pinterest and repinned a few of your home and garden ideas. I’m new to pinterest and love it.

Just posted by “B” and got so caught up with my first choice I didn’t even do other individual ones. I am enjoying this very much, It is not clear to me whether I have to reenter my information each day to be added to the list. I am curious about pinterest and will have to check that out when I have time.

    Diligent.
Dang it. You took my word; therefore I will use direct. I am blunt and to the point. There is no guessing with my meaning.

I am really loving this series. At times it feels like we have so much in common (and sometimes so different.) I love learning about people (Also DIY Dreamers unite. ^^)

Well… I’d say the biggest D word I can think of for myself is Dingy… LOL (Like ding dong dingy, not shabby old dingy)
I doubt anyone who knows me would disagree.. Another is Dorky… but us Dingy Dorks have a lot of fun in Life so we is what we is! ;)

Determined & dilligent are iothers that definitely describes me too.. and descriptive is another trait I have in abundance.. much to the annoyance to one or two folks in the world. ;)

Amen……distrustful of many, many things involving the government, and their friends and family. Behind most conspiracies is much truth – it only takes about 40 years for some of the truth to come out.

I am beginning to see that many of us have many things in common. Nice to know one isn’t alone after all – even in this state.

A small farm…I wonder how the city would feel if we purchased the houses around us and turned it back into what it once was – a farm? A girl can dream.
