M is for ____________

August 16th, 2011

MUSHROOM LOVER – I love all things mushroom and can make a meal of them. I’ll eat them on anything and often do. This year I’m attempting to grow mushrooms in the garden.

MOWING – Even though I don’t have much lawn left here at Chiot’s Run I love to mow.

MAP PERSON – GPS is nice and we have one to help with our travels to events – but I love a good map. You’ll always find me with an atlas in my lap while we’re traveling the country.

MAXIMIZE – Since I’ve got so much going on, I’m pretty good at maximizing my time. I’ve learned to be efficient in the things that I do so I don’t waste time. That way I can get a whole lot more done throughout the week.

MARRIED – This is definitely something that defines me. Mr Chiots and I have been married for 13 years now. Being married is a wonderful thing when you find the right person.

What words/phrases describe you that start with a M?

Good Ms! I’m with you on mushrooms – well, all fungi actually, having worked in mycology research for many years, but I still get excited when I find a mushroom! I need to work on that maximize thing though…

I also enjoy maps. Even if they are on the computer. I tend to look at my route before I head out the door, especially when I have never been somewhere before. The atlas is with me on a trip too. It helps with a sense of direction I think. My M’s were motorcycle, mustard (thank you for inspiring me) and menopause! Oh and I enjoy mushrooms too. Emily

Oh, mustard – I forgot to mention that one. I love mustards of all colors and flavors.

I’m very eager to learn about the future mushroom-growing exploits in your garden.

And (re: K.B’s post), I, too, worked in a mycology lab for a couple of years during undergrad. Weird!

Of course, M stands for Maybelline!
Maps?! I can’t believe there is another super freak for maps out there. I absolutely enjoy reading and exploring a map. Do you find, like me, that it’s difficult to get lost?

Yes, much more difficult to get lost when you have a good map. I find GPS maps to be kind of confusing at times.

I also love maps. When I’m traveling to a city, I like to see if there is a Pop-Out map for it. It’s about postcard size when folded but includes street maps for walking, subway/train maps if applicable, and listings of things to see. So far I have maps for the Twin Cities, DC, Chicago, Boston, New York, and San Diego, and I will be checking soon to see if there’s one for Denver.

Oh, I like your Map Lover. I refuse to get a GPS. I’ve heard too many horror stories about them and I happen to have an excellent sense of direction so maps it is for me.

Im back again LOL. I feel like I have been sick all of August. Anyone out there have any tips on fighting a perpetual Yuck… for someone who does not get sick often this is a real drag.

I’d highly recommend adding some Blue Ice Royal Butter Oil / Fermented Cod Liver Oil Blend – Capsules to your diet, along with some coconut oil and raw milk if possible. After adding these things to my diet I find that I haven’t gotten so much as a sniffle. The vitamin D in the cod liver oil really helps boost immunity, as does coconut oil and good pastured butter & raw milk.

I will look into the Capsules, I am trying to find a raw milk option around Dayton but so far have not had any luck. I am starting to use coconut oil so maybe that will help!

We used to take the capsules and now take the liquid.

Having had an ‘F is for … forager’ I’d love to say mushroom was on my list too. But frankly the thought of picking my own scares me – even experts get it wrong sometimes! I do enjoy eating them though.

I’m still running a day late but hope to catch up with you soon. Today M is for … monster marrows.
