M is for ____________

August 16th, 2011

MUSHROOM LOVER – I love all things mushroom and can make a meal of them. I’ll eat them on anything and often do. This year I’m attempting to grow mushrooms in the garden.

MOWING – Even though I don’t have much lawn left here at Chiot’s Run I love to mow.

MAP PERSON – GPS is nice and we have one to help with our travels to events – but I love a good map. You’ll always find me with an atlas in my lap while we’re traveling the country.

MAXIMIZE – Since I’ve got so much going on, I’m pretty good at maximizing my time. I’ve learned to be efficient in the things that I do so I don’t waste time. That way I can get a whole lot more done throughout the week.

MARRIED – This is definitely something that defines me. Mr Chiots and I have been married for 13 years now. Being married is a wonderful thing when you find the right person.

L is for ____________

August 15th, 2011

LOYAL – I’m a loyal friend and customer. If I like your product I will tell everyone about it and most likely purchase it for the rest of my life. I’ll defend my friends fiercely and help them in any way that I can.

LIST MAKER – I make lists for everything, there’s something quite satisfying about crossing things off of your to-do list. Sometimes I even add things that weren’t on there, simply so I can cross it off. I always make lists of things I need when I head to the health food store or the farmer’s market – but I promptly lose the list and can never find them when I need them.

LONE RANGER – as an introvert, I need lots of time alone in order to recharge, especially after a social situation or being out and about. That’s probably why I love the solitude of gardening!

LAID BACK – I’m pretty laid back about a lot of things in my life. I find it makes life more enjoyable when you don’t worry about every little detail.

LOW MAINTENANCE – especially for a woman. I don’t wear make up, jewelry, perfume, or own a pair of high heels or panty hose. I don’t even comb my hair, it gets washed twice a week and when I get out of the shower it goes into a ponytail.

LOVE LIFE – I love life. I find that trying to learn from your mistakes and focusing on enjoying the season you’re in (whether good or bad) make for a very enjoyable life.

I Spy a Potager

August 14th, 2011

When Mr Chiots and I are out driving around, either locally or far and wide, I notice gardens – especially edible gardens or potagers. A few weeks ago we traveled to Indiana for a video project (more on that to come later) and I spotted this beautiful potager down the street from my friend’s home. It’s very well done, small, neat, well organized, bountiful, and very beautiful. Since my camera is always at my feet while we’re away from home, I snapped some photos to share with you.

Whoever cultivates this garden is doing a beautiful job. I’m sure it brings them much joy. A hearty thanks goes out to all people who cultivate their edible gardens out where people can see them as they drive by – it certainly bring enjoyment to many of us.

Do you look at gardens when you’re out and about? Have you ever stopped to take photos?

K is for _____________

August 13th, 2011

KNOWLEDGEABLE – I spend a lot of time reading & researching a wide variety of topics – as a result I know a lot about a lot of things. Most of this information is useless, but it give me a lot to think about.

KOOKY – silly, crazy, eccentric (of course interesting sounds better).

KEEN – I have a keen sense of smell and taste – which is good and bad. Good because I have a well developed palate, bad because I’m very sensitive to artificial flavors. My sense of smell is also very keen, Easter lilies for example are overpowering to me and give me a headache, as do lilacs and pretty much any other strongly scented item. Needless to say to perfume is used here at Chiot’s Run.

J is for _____________

August 12th, 2011

JOVIAL – not much of an cryer or a melancholy soul – laughing is more my speed.

JUDICIOUS – I think I have pretty good judgement – my life experience has given me a good foundation for making wise decisions. I definitely look to the future and try to plan ahead.

JUMPY – I’m easily startled. Probably because I’m always engrossed in thought.

JIGSAW PUZZLES – I find working puzzles to be relaxing and fun. In the winter we often have a jigsaw puzzle on the table for those spare moments.

JADED – because of some life experiences I can be a bit jaded in certain areas – perhaps I should say realistic more than jaded.
