Friday Favorite: Diablo III

May 18th, 2012

I mentioned a while ago that Mr Chiots and I enjoyed playing computer games together. We’ve been playing both Diablo and Diablo 2 for a LONG time. Not many people know this about me and they’re surprised when they find out.

We’ve been waiting for Diablo III to come out for so long. We preordered our copies last fall and were hoping they’d come out for Christmas. The game didn’t come out for Christmas, but Mr Chiots got me this mousepad instead.

This past Tuesday the game officially launched and our pre-ordered copies arrived via UPS. Sadly, I have had too much going on to play. Mr Chiots has played for an hour or so.

It’s too bad the game arrived during our super busy season. Not only are we trying to get everything ready for selling and moving, the gardening season is in full swing and our business really picks up in the summer. Looks like I won’t be playing much until this coming winter. I also like playing board games, Scrabble being my all-time favorite.

What’s your favorite game, either computer or other board games?

I haven’t played computer games in a long, LONG time, but there was one called Phantasmagoria that I was addicted too :) Like you, I don’t have much time for that now, except during the winter :):)

I was only twelve when I first played Phantasmagoria. Nostalga at it’s finest! The ending song, “Skeletons in my Closet” I’ve been listening to it for seventeen years… ♥

Scrabble is our all time favorite as well. During the winter my husband and I play it most nights and just leave the board permanently set up between our chairs on the coffee table.

I love Scrabble too. Words with Friends is also highly addictive. BUT my all time favorite are the old school RPG games like Dragon Warrior, Shining Force, etc. I like to nerd out on my oooolld Nintendo after the kids go to bed.

I’m a long time Runescape player. It’s the ultimate geek game, but I have friends on there from all over the world, I think I’ve played close to 5 years now. I’ve played A LOT of computer games over the years, but that’s the one I always go back to.

In University I used to take out my frustrations on an arcade game called Site 4. You would blast zombies and aliens to your hearts content and boy did I blast them dumb beasts.Sadly, I`ve never been able to find that game since. We didn`t have gameboys, nintendo`s or many computer games in my house growing up so I`m really bad at them now, I never developed the dexterity for them.

Find time, it’s really fun! I barely get any gaming time now, our toddler keeps me too busy but I’ve been trying to get in a few minutes here and there. Gotta fight those monsters!

I, myself, being classified as a “hardcore” gamer, I was surely surprised to hear that YOU played Diablo. :D
UGH! We’ve tweeted back and forth now about that! heh! I am in the same boat as you! Getting ready for art conventions leaves me very little time to play myself… I did play for like an hour on Wednesday, and I plan to take some time today to play too… It’s soooo good.

I think I remember you saying that you liked Barbarian. They’re insane.

Like I said above, I am a “hardcore” gamer – I play everything from old school RPG’s, Action-Adventure, FPS, MMO’s, Strategy and World Sims. I also enjoy board games like Pictionary [as an artist I’m always classified as a cheater, heh.], Clue, Scrabble, Arkham Horror, and The House on the Hill [the last two are adventure-styled board games. SO good with a group of zombie-apocolypse-cthulu ethusiasts. XD]. I could go on…!

Maybe we’ll fight against the forces of evil together. [Share our LiveID names..? hehe!]

No time to waste on these things and no extra money for them either. Even if I had both I still wouldn’t do that as I have life to live. Thanks for the posting.

I’m currently trying to juggle my time between gardening, thesis writing, and Diablo III.

I remember you mentioning Diablo before, and I loved that, because I’ve often felt a little guilty about it, as it’s not very productive, but you seem like such a productive person, living life to the fullest. It gave me a little vindication in my love of games. My life just isn’t complete without a little dragon slaying and dungeon exploring! I don’t have a lot of time to play these days, though I have snuck in a little Skyrim here and there. My husband and I played Diablo II together, but he still claims I hog all the loot. As if!

From all I’ve heard about Diablo III, you’re better off waiting a few months until they work the kinks out. I’m not too keen on the online-only aspect, but I’m sure I’ll succumb eventually…

Mr Chiots has been having server issues while playing so far. Hopefully they do get all the kinks worked out. We’re not too keen on it being an only on-line thing either.

I think it can be productive to let off some steam playing games. I find that doing it helps me accomplish more. Of course many people take it too far and spend way too much time, which then it does become a waste of time.

None.. A million years ago I loved pinball & foos-ball.. and those were the “in” games at the time.. haha. We used to play Scrabble & chess a lot too.. After I married, Game systems started coming out & I enjoyed Frogger.. Yeah, I think Im dating myself a bit. ;) but I never really did play it often. My mother in law lived on her Atari. ;)
We did play a lot of card games & I guess if I had to say I had a favorite it would be Gin Rummy, or maybe even dominos, but I havent played either n years.
We do play Left Right Center a lot at the parties we have & go to.. and I play Words with Friends with a couple of friends too..
    AWESOME, huh. ;o)

I love when my worlds collide. When I first saw this post in my RSS feed, I thought, “Wait, why is there a gaming post in my garden folder?”

Gardeners game. Gamers garden. It’s all good. :)
