High Mowing Seed Giveaway
A couple months ago, High Mowing Seeds asked to me to try some of their seeds in my Northeast Ohio garden. Since I love High Mowing and their organic seeds, I said sure. Then of course I asked for a giveaway for my blog.
I opted to have them send me a Heirloom Vegetable Collection which includes: Detroit Dark Red Beet • French Breakfast Radish • Red Russian Kale • Green Arrow Shell Peas • Yellow Crookneck Summer Squash • Rouge d’Hiver Red Romaine Lettuce • Boothby Blonde Cucumber • Ruby Red Chard • Red Cored Chantenay • Brandywine Tomato. I’m especially excited about trying the squash and cucumbers, bot new varieties for my garden.
They have a few other wonderful collections including:
- A Bee’s Garden Organic Seed Collection
- Garden Starter Organic Seed Collection
- Heirloom Vegetable Lover’s Collection
- Kid’s Garden Organic Seed Collection
- Kitchen Herbs Collection
- Easy Salad Greens Organic Seed Collection
- Summer of Sunflowers Organic Seed Collection
- Three Sisters Organic Seed Collection
Tell me in the comments which collection you’d like to grow in your garden and you’ll be entered to win that collection. Winner chosen, thanks to Random.org TJ from Humble Origins is the winner.
I love that High Mowing has a special Seed CSA in December where you can purchase seed shares at a reduced rate and use them to purchase seeds for the coming growing season. To keep up with what they’re doing, head on over to their Facebook Page.
So which seed collection would like to have for your garden?

I’d love the Summer of Sunflowers set – our yard is coming back to life finally after years of the previous owner chemically treating it to death. We finally have clover, and I’m trying to introduce more flowering plants that are beneficial… plus my husband is a sunflower seed chewing softball player – it’d be fun to roast our own!

I live in NE Ohio! You’re in NE Ohio as well? I have been reading your blog since I decided to start my very first garden this year; have no idea how I missed that we are in the same area! I’m about 5-10 minutes from Youngstown. Small world!
Anyway, the Kid’s Garden Organic Seed Collection sound perfect for my family. I would love to get my boys (ages 10 and 3) involved with gardening. They are really showing a lot of interest in what we having going so far, and any extra encouragement I can give them would be wonderful!

I love their different blends: what a cool idea. I have a wonderful and local source for salad seeds (about a mile down the road!), so i think i’d like to try the bee seed set. We plan on planting a large drift of assorted heathers and keeping bees near that as well as our pasture that will have whtie clover. It would be fun to plant a little garden ust for the bees as an accent as well. :)

The Starter Collection would be perfect for my new house. It would be so simple to have all the seeds at once. I’ve just turned over the soil and have been looking at catalogs for what to grow.

I would love, love, love the Heirloom Vegetable Lover’s Collection. My venture into being a first time homesteader points me in the direction of heirloom, so I’m headed down that path. This collection would get me started in the most wonderful way.

I am still experimenting with vegetables in my garden, so my choice would be the Heirloom Vegetable Collection! I am in the middle of my first season growing things from seed and it’s been pretty successful so far and I would like to continue branching out.

Garden Starter Organic Seed Collection – this has been my first year of growing, and I could use a solid start!
to Lauren's comment
I keep sticking in lettuces and greens wherever I can in the garden, so it’s the Easy Salad Greens collection for me!
to Patricia M's comment
I would love the Heirloom Veg. Lover’s Collection or the Garden Starter Collection. I have been gardening for over 30 years and the enjoyment of it never goes away. Each year I seem to find something new to try. I was recently telling my husband that I need a bigger garden (which would pretty much end having any yard at one end of our property) and he just laughed at me! I am trying to use as many heirloom seeds and plants as I possibly can, and have been trying to save seeds as well.
to Terri's comment
I would love the heirloom veggies. There are some varieties I have never tried in that collection. Someone was telling me about high mowing and this would be a great way for me to check them out.
to Jennifer's comment

to Kim's comment
I would like the Garden Starter Collection (but it would be great if I could switch out the carrots and cukes for the crookneck squash and Brandywine tomatoes).
Thanks for the giveaway!

My son loves to eat carrots and peas straight out of the garden (not so much with the peas on his dinner plate!). This is the first year I bought all organic seed, so those two reasons add up to – the Garden Starter Organic Seed Collection please. Thank you for the fun!
