Quote of the Day: William Blake
In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.
~William Blake
This year I’m finding myself really looking forward to winter and the rest that it brings. We’re entering the final push for all the changes that will happen. The contractor finally arrived this past week and we’ve been madly working this weekend! The hardwood flooring is all done (more about this project a few others later this week).
All these long days filled with lots of work have become the usual for the past 6 months and it’s starting to catch up with us. Luckily the finish line is in sight. There will be a For Sale sign out front this coming weekend and there are only four more weeks until we move. Thankfully – winter will be before we know it and will bring much needed down time!
Are you looking forward to fall/winter?

Oh boy, I know exactly what you are going through and can honestly empathize… 3 years ago, we had a MAD push to finish our basement before we put our house on the market. We were simultaneously property hunting and as soon as we found the acreage that we wanted, we listed our home and began the process of renovations on the new place. We GUTTED the house down to bare walls and started from scratch, doing nearly all the work ourselves. Add to the mix packing the entire house of belongings for 5 kids of vastly different ages ~ then showing the house and keeping it meticulous 24/7… we were FRAZZLED. You are indeed nearing the end of the stressful work. Unpacking and customizing your new homestead and it’s gardens will be great fun and can be done at your leisure (with chickens to keep you company!) Hang in there and TRY to get enough sleep…

I hear ya- just took a look at the weather and not a single 90 degree day predicted for this week– fall is on the way! It’s going to be awesome!

I cant say Im really looking forward to winter, but I adore fall.. While the tasks of the days may change, they are still plentiful.

I am definitely ready to wind down for the Fall/Winter. It’s definitely at this point that I’m getting tired of the daily pest/weed/water cycle and I’m ready for a bit of rest. I really don’t settle things down until the time change, but once it starts getting dark early, I’m actually ready to spend a little less time outside.

after this hot summer? you betcha! In a week, we’re off to see some relatives for a few days (can’t wait – they have miniature cows and donkeys) and then Labor day and a week of camping!

I am really looking forward to cooler temps and winter veggies. Somehow I had the dates mixed up, I thought you were packing up and moving this past weekend (I was off by a month!) Either way, I know you are both super busy. You are in my thoughts. Emily

Oh yeah. Looking forward to starting lettuce, tomatoes and eggplant. I so look forward to opening the windows again, which we can’t usually do until October. Best wishes on the last of the work you have planned. I hope everything goes smoothly the next few weeks.
