Friday Favorite: My Laptop

November 30th, 2012

I love my little laptop. My laptop gives me the freedom to travel to Ohio for the holidays and keep up with my work load. It gives me the freedom to work outside on a nice day, or to work by the wood stove when it’s cold. We are an Apple family, so it’s an 11 inch MacBook Air. If you’re looking for a small computer I cannot recommend this little lovely more.

I love that it’s small enough to carry in my purse yet powerful enough to run my photo software. This little machine is worth it’s weight in gold to me!

Do you prefer a laptop or a desktop computer, or do you use a tablet or phone primarily?

I run a laptop, not an Apple but would love a MacBook!
I can access the Internet with my iPod & my android mobile.
Tend to use the iPod mainly but that’s because it lives in the kitchen!

I love my laptop. I don’t ever think I will ever care for a desktop again.
I love it for all of the reasons you like yours.
I can access internet on my phone, but don’t use it often. One thing on my phone I do like is my navigation, but that’s another favorite topic :)

I don’t know how people use laptops. I was a secretary in my other life and Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) was prolific if you spent too much time infront of a computer.

I have to use my desktop to avoid RSI.

I find with a laptop (my husband has one) you pull on your neck trying to bend down to look at the screen and my posture is terrible. I truly understand the convenience aspect as my husband couldn’t do without his, but for me I prefer the stationary desktop, where you can put your screen at eye level and have your arms in a comfortable position for typing.

I use a laptop on a stand with a mouse as I hate the built in variety. When I have to replace the reservation computer at my boarding kennel, I will purchase a laptop. I use my Android when away from home and for texting but my work horse is my laptop.

I love having a laptop and I don’t think I’ll be likely to buy a desktop ever again. I love the portability and I couldn’t give that up. My husband and I have talked about maybe getting a tablet, but I just recently purchased a laptop for him for Christmas (shhh… he doesn’t know and he’s going to yell at me when he finds out… lol).
Since I finally broke down and got a smart phone this year, I have found that I use it quite a bit. However, I definitely prefer to do most things on a computer rather than my phone.

I love my laptop. Hubs and I both have one. It was great taking one to Thailand this summer. Could keep up with things at home. I’d love to have a smaller one like yours. I have several canvas bags that I use for different activities, and it will be great to just stick in a bag and go.

    I’m quite the opposite, well, for one I’m a PC person. ^w^;;
[although I’m not totally against Mac products, I’m just against people who believe Mac is superior to other products…]
And being an digital illustration artsy-fartsy person you would think I’d be all over Mac products, but I’m not… I know, it’s weird.
I only recently got a laptop, mainly for being able to sit at the couch and relax and work on art/my website… but I can’t say I’m totally enamored with it. I enjoy my heavy duty computers… my PC’s are like, super computers… hahaha! [they actually heat my 2nd floor!]

One day though, I may try out a Mac… one day.

I know what you mean about the computers heating the room, in our office it gets toasty when we have all 4 computers going!

I have a desktop, a laptop, a Kindle Fire, & an Android and hands down, I prefer my desktop to surf the web..

The others are convenient and I love being able to move around with them.. but gimme an old fashioned desktop, my big comfy office chair, and a side table to kick my feet up on,(where the heater vent blows) and Im a happy girl.

Im sure part of it is my diminishing eyesight. I can sit at the desktop and not need my cheeters (most of the time) but with the others I need them.. so they’re a bit of an inconvenience for me.

M’honey is also in the graphic arts/printing business and he uses a super duper maxed out PC too.. Im sure he’d love a Mac but he hasnt talked about getting one for many many years..

I use a laptop at the kitchen table. My daughter has a tiny one, with a full size keyboard, but I can’t stand it! Too hard to read it. While I love my laptop, I guess if I had my own room and a desk just for me, I would probably have another desktop. My son has one. He really could benefit from a Mac, but we just can’t afford that!

I use my iPad mostly. I love to be able to sit in the recliner (and my cat loves me to sit there) and surf the web, check email, etc. For serious typing I use a desktop.

We gave our older son money a couple years ago to get a computer. He was initially wanting a laptop, but decided on a desktop because he could get more bang for his buck. Especially for some of the games he plays.

I use a 21 inch iMac desktop with 500meg external drive for back up. With all the photos I take I’ll be upgrading the external drive to 1 or 2 terabytes soon. In the kitchen I use my iPad. My recipe software is MacGourmet and I sync the recipes to the iPad version for use in the kitchen. I’ve tried almost every recipe program out there and MacGourmet is the one that seems to work best for me.

laptop! Mine is almost 6 yrs old. When my last desktop died, I was so fed up with it I went sans computer for months rather than have another desktop. I still do most of my work in my office, but now I have the option to roam. This thing has been everywhere, including the barn.

Desktop. And even though I’ll probably get a laptop next, I’ll need a desktop for as long as I have my telecommuting data maintenance job. The 10 key on a laptop just doesn’t cut it when I need to do a lot of data entry.

I just sprung for the iPad mini and am loving the portability. It’s a convenient screen size for me to use on the internet, too. For a lot of typing, I’d use a Bluetooth keyboard instead of the touchscreen but so far it’s been fine.

I love my laptop too. We purchased ours so that I could spend time away from home writing. Some day I’ll move to an Apple but for now, my Dell works just fine. :)

I mostly use a laptop. I put it on my lap while I’m on the couch with my feet up, so my hands rest naturally and I don’t get RSI, but each to their own. . .

I also like my i-pad a lot, because it is easy to read on the bus.
