Let me Explain
Mr. Chiots here with a guest post. After an extremely busy week around the run we decided to take the day off so no podcast this week. I apologize. I know many of you will be disappointed. We will be back next week with our regularly scheduled program.
For the past three weeks we have been having some ‘technical difficulties’ with the podcast downloading in iTunes. The problem ended up being with Google’s Feed Burner, a feed service that we run everything through. At some point in the near future we are going to shift off of this system which may soon go the way of Google Reader according the chatter on the web.
The good news is that through the troubleshooting, we upgraded the host for our file storage. Shows should download very quickly and without trouble.
I love statistics and according to ours we just topped 180,000 downloads of the podcast. This week we will see the blog surpass 30,000 comments. We are one month away from the 5th anniversary of the blog. We want to thank you all for making the show and the blog a huge success. The community that surrounds Chiot’s Run is pretty amazing and we are constantly encouraged. Many of you know more about what is going on in our lives than some of our family members. We refer to those of you that we have never met as our friends. Thank you all.
If you have not had a chance to listen to the older episodes of Cultivate Simple, I would encourage you to do so. Thank you again and see you next week.
What topic you would like to hear on the show?

I’m glad that it’s not technical difficulties keeping the podcast away. :) A busy week means you’ll have LOTS to chat about next week – always a silver lining!

I’ve heard the chatter on Feedburner for awhile too. If you find a suitable replacement let us know!

When I read the title, I kept hearing Desi Ball saying “Lucy, ‘splain!” – but seriously, we appreciate the glimpses into your life and thought – so thank you for sharing, and no need to explain! We’ll anticipate next Monday all the more!

I would love to hear some of your more folksy experiences over the last months as you settled in to your farm and central ME.

I’m glad things are going so well. Everyone needs a rest once and a while. :) I was wondering how you both deal with poison ivy. Being outside gardening, chopping wood and all the other amazing things you both do, you must meet up once and a while…..

I actually have been catching up on the podcasts! I missed a couple here and there, so going back has been just a delight! I love your podcasts, and the blog as well~
[I make sure to donate too, when I can!]
And I have a silly comment… but I know that you guys were excited to play Diablo III, I wondered if you got a chance to actually play it – and were you slightly dissapointed as I was? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic game… I just felt that after Act I they rushed the game terribly…

Thanks for the update! Though I have not been able to listen to an entire pod cast, I have enjoyed the rare chances I’ve had to listen for fifteen or thirty minutes without little people chattering in my ear. You two are so inspirational to me, and I’ve learned so much from Susy. Good work, and congratulations on the blog/podcast stats!

I especially enjoy hearing about how things are going “around the run”, the good and the bad. Learning from your adventures is encouraging.
Would like to hear more about bees, how to start and manage care of the bees, where best to get bees, and how to deal with the honey. How to for making the best compost. Growing and harvesting mushrooms, garlic and nut trees. Planting for a winter harvest. Sharing your insights about how to start and own a business. When you share “what’s for dinner” it all sounds so delicious, how about recipes?
I have learned a lot from Brian’s geeky corner too!

Just thought of something that may not be a whole podcast, but could be really useful to the community at large. We are buying our first cow share…and now I am scrambling to find a resource that shows clearly what cuts you can choose from for half a cow.
Maybe some resources for choosing meat cuts from pig shares, lamb shares, goat shares, and cow shares would be handy.
