Kingwood Center in Mansfield, OH

June 19th, 2013

Yesterday, we joined up with my sister and her kids and spent the day walking around Kingwood Center in Mansfield, OH. It was a wonderful garden, if you’re ever in Mansfield, I highly recommend taking the time to visit the gardens. Not only is it a beautiful place to spend a day, it’s also a very inexpensive place. It costs only $5 per car as a parking fee. Here are some images from our day.

There are so many wonderful gardens throughout the country, thankfully I’ve been able to visit many. Now I’ve checked another off my list. I’d love to hear about any gardens you’ve visited that you love so I can add them to my list of places to go.

What’s your favorite garden to visit in your area or when you travel?

I live 2 hours from NYC, and I never tire of the NY Botanical gardens. Your photos are beautiful!

I like Boothbay. MDI has some nice gardens but they are fairly homogenous. Boothbay has various habitats.

The NY City Botanical Gardens, and near me, the Garden at North Hill in Readsboro, Vt.
In England, The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a garden and a story to behold! Basically it was lost and overgrown for 70+ years after all the gardeners died in WWI, and rediscovered really by accident. There is a great book about the gardens you would enjoy too.

The photo of the little ones leaning towards the pond is just magical! Stops time in its track…

I’ve been wanting to go to the gardens at North Hill for so long, perhaps this summer I can find the time.

I love the gardens at Rousham House, Oxfordshire.
Luckily for me it’s local, also I think Kiftsgate house garden NR Chipping Camden is lovely….
Of course you’d have to visit the UK to visit these!

Thank You for sharing! Since I live about an hour from Mansfield , it will be a place we will visit this summer. I love going to new gardens or nature centers. Our favorite place is The Wilderness Center in Wilmot. Although not really a garden it’s a great place to go. Have you ever been to Secrest Arboretum in Wooster? I heard it’s lovely and will be visiting there soon!

If you ever get out to Minnesota, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is amazing. I love the Japanese Garden there. In winter, you can’t beat the Como Park Conservatory in St. Paul. Sometimes I go there just to soak up the humidity during our cold, dry Januaries. Love the photo of the allium!

It’s a long way from most of us but I can recommend the Botanical Gardens in Dunedin in New Zealand. They are partly on a hillside so the views are also good.
Hergest Croft Gardens in Kington, Herefordshire, England are beautiful in spring and early summer as the National collection of rhododendrons are there along with azaleas and magnolias.

What are those first purple puffball flowers? Those are beautiful!!!

I love the gardens at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. It’s great that they have the indoor conservatory that you can visit even in the winter. When you’re done checking out the beautiful gardens, you can then check out the Sparky the Sealion show or watch the gorilla’s and other animals! :)
