Garage Queen
I must say, the Sweets is loving her new digs here at Chiot’s Run Maine. Back in Ohio she had a tiny two car garage with a large attached workshop. She had to settle for sleeping on an old rug we had in the back room, or up in the rafters. Here in Maine, she has a HUGE garage complete with a large second story.
On that second floor there are two old comfy couches for her to choose from. I often find her sleeping happily on the one right at the top of the stairs. Some feral cat!
She truly has become the queen of the garage, spending her days lounging contentedly. Pretty soon she’ll be demanding I feed her in a crystal bowl. Life is certainly good if you’re a cat here at Chiot’s Run! She must be doing her job, we haven’t spotted a mouse since she moved in.
Do you have any pampered pets at your place?

no pampered pets. my neighbor has a pampered dog that barks at me whenever it feels like. i ofter tell her that some dogs work for a living. and i have a job for her on a sheep farm in ireland. food and shelter in included, along with some therapy…………seeing that the culture and climate is new to her.

Two cats, two very spoiled cats. But when we need a mouser they are right there trying to get it and beat each other up in the process. And our male cat is excellent at catching moths that get into the house. Thought sometimes he needs help.

Susy, the phrase “What a dog’s life” meant that it was a life of leisure but it appears that Sweets has it above a dog’s life. Of course cats always believe they are on a higher level of intelligence then dogs and they just might be right.
Some times just the presence of a cat in the house will keep the mice away. My old house, that I lived in almost 30 years ago, was a nursery for the motherly mouse. The cat, Casey Mae, and I had a running competition every winter as to who could catch the most mice. I would set out traps and she would hunt them down in her cat fashion. Each of us would catch 10 to 15 mice in the fall and winter months. I was kind of glad to move out of that mouse infested hotel.
Have a great day in the Maine weather.

We have had cats for years, all pampered, our two angels crossed the rainbow bridge last year, I was so upset I nearly fainted when our sophie passed on thehottest day july 9 2013 then one week from that bailey boy passed in my arms on july 16, 2013..we still have two and I watch them and spoil on them, but once they cross the rainbow bridge that is it, got too attached and they were not our cats, just tossed by our mail box (one bailey boy) the other my only child brought her home from the high school, so tiny and shaking, I had to feed her formula from a Vet’s office with a baby bottle, she was miss sophie and when she passed on july 9, 2013 I nearly lost my mind! I love your blog, your kitteh cat looks like a cat we used to have years ago, was told by a vet he was feral, feral my butt, he stayed inside and hunkered down, was so sweet hubs who did not like kitteh cats, until he came into the house, he lived for a short while..take care, happy summer to you and your family and kitteh cat too!

We keep talking about how when we get patio furniture the ferals are going to be lounging on it all day instead of us. Our ferals are pretty goofy!

Ava, my English shepherd, is having a birthday today. She’s three, something quite a amazing for a dog we weren’t sure would live to see two. It took 18 months to get it under control and in that time, I thought we’d lose her on several occasions. She sleeps on the couch, the first and last dog to be allowed to do so. She learned to ask me for help when she needs it (“my ball is stuck” and “you latched the door and I can’t get out so you have to stop working and let me out”) are a couple of her most used woofs. I often work with her front feet on my left arm and her nose almost in my eye. It’s her method of driving me nuts until I stop working and take her for walk. I’m well trained.

She was one of the kittens that a feral cat moved into our garage a long time ago.

We have ONLY pampered pets in my house. Even the garden turtle gets all the low-hanging cucumbers.
