Friday Favorite: Sunny Days

September 20th, 2013

This time of the year, if the sun is out, I’m out (at least if I can be).  I know that soon enough the days will be short and the sun won’t be as high in the sky.  I’m trying to soak up as much sun as I can to get me through winter.  I’m almost ready to trade my tank tops for sweaters, just not quite.  Luckily the weather is cooperating and I’ve had some really wonderfully sunny days to dig potatoes this week!

I enjoy the sun in winter too, it’s just not as strong as it is in the summer.

The laundry will also miss the heat of the sun, even the clothes I’ve been hanging out recently haven’t been drying as quickly as they did even a few weeks ago.

Do you live in an area where you notice a big difference in the strength of the sun throughout the seasons?

I also love stealing every second I can to be outside in the sun this time of the year. I like that the sun is not son strong. My favorite time on the lake is September with the soft sun, cool air, and very few people.

Oh yes. Once we go by the beginning of August, the days get noticeably shorter and the sun is lower in the sky. Now off to Common Ground Fair to enjoy a beautiful day of sun and blue sky.

Perhaps we’ll see you there, we’re heading out soon.

And how. The sun is just starting to feel nice, not punishing. And soon it will be essentially gone for the winter. Life in upstate New York.

I love it when the days start getting shorter and the sun is lower in the sky. here in southern Illinois the summers are brutal. Each season has its rewards though. and I never get tired of going thru them. Summer’s reward is all the wonderful garden produce – especially tomatoes which is practically all I eat in August when the heat takes away my appetite for more hearty fare. Fall here is spectacular, and winters are mild compared with New England. A big snow storm is a treat and reminds me of my childhood in Michigan.

I’ve never seen crowds this large on Friday at CGCF. Not really a positive experience. Didn’t see you there but not a surprise.
