A Baker’s Dozen
Usually I’m fairly good about keeping track of things, lens caps are a different story. I’m always taking them off of my camera and putting them in my pockets. As a result, they’re always missing.
I need to buy a baker’s dozen of these so I can at least fine one when I need it. I’m the same way with scissors, I have scissors all over the place so they’re always within easy reach when I need them. I suppose carrying a pocket knife would provide me with the same benefit, of course I’d have to buy enough for all my pockets, so maybe not.
Do you have one item that you have a hard time keeping track of? Do you keep more around than you need so you can always find them?

Pocket knives and lens caps – me, too. Trowels, hose attachments and memory cards hide when I’m not looking.

My itty bitty crochet hooks. There is usually one in every little project bag, but I also have some in my glass workshop, in the garage (they work great at fixing the snow blower), and some in my bed room for late night stitching or fixing a pull on a sweater. But when I want to do an actual project, they all but disappear.

Not only can I not think of anything I can’t find on a regular basis, but I’m also the go to person for everyone ELSE in the house to find THEIR things. It’s actually super annoying because none of them can ever find anything. I forgive it in the three-year-old, but my mother-in-law? Come on.

I had the same problem until I bought a lens cap holder. Now mine never goes missing! http://gadgetsin.com/camera-lens-cap-strap-holder.htm.
The one thing I’m always looking for are my reading glasses, and I have like 8 pairs scattered around the house!

Susy, I rarely loose things but the rest of the family is a different story. TV remotes are the things that disappear quite often. Car keys are another item that seems to disappear into the time warp only to appear in a place everyone looked at a future time. My wife would literal explode when she hit the door coming home. A trail of coat, hat, shoes, scarf, gloves would lead to the bathroom. It must be a girl thing because my daughter does the same thing. Anyway next day would bring the search for the car keys. It was amazing some of the places we found them but mostly they would be hanging in the door lock on the outside of the door. It took a really long time to find them the first time that happened.
Have a great lens cap day.

I can never find a pen when I need one. I typically use pencils, which are all over the house. However, if I have to sign something official, I am in trouble. I buy them buy the packs and my kids carry them off to school, a new one each day. When desperate, I have them dig through their backpacks and renew my stash. They usually return 20-30 pens at a time.

My husband bought me a lens cap tether so it never gets lost anymore. On the other hand, it drives me crazy dangling from the camera. I have to hold it out of the way otherwise it swings into the shot. Very annoying. I’m not sure which is worse – to have it get lost or to have it dangle.
Around here we lose pens a LOT. Personally I think my husband brings them to work and leaves them. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around??
My worst thing to lose is tapestry needles – you know the thick blunt needles with big eyes that you use to weave the ends back in on finished yarn projects? I never can find one when I’m ready for it, and I’m quite certain I’ve bought hundreds over the past few years.

my answer to the tapestry disapperarnce, is to leave a 3 inch colored string……tie both ends together—on the needle then hand them at differents points in the house.

I can never find scissors when I need them. I have them in the kitchen, garage, hay storage, basement etc. and I still can never find them. Same goes for plier, screwdrivers and tape measures. Reading glasses try to hide but usually can’t.

Unfortunately for me I can never seem to leave my glucose meter in the same place twice. Whenever I have need of it I have to go around checking different places or looking through the purses I used that week.
I have a tie on my camera’s lens cap that keeps it attached to my camera so i can’t lose it. But that just means that I’m always battling with it when I go to take a picture. :-)

Bobby pins and hair elastics. I buy them in bulk as they always end up scattered to the four winds. I’ve even come across a few in the garden. I have a stash on my car since I often let my hair down on the way home from work.
