The Last Cookie

December 3rd, 2013

Around there, the last cookie always gets stale sitting in the container. Both of us leave the cookie for the other person, not wanting to be the one to eat the last one.

Every now and then, it’s split in half before it goes stale, then we both get to enjoy it.

Does this ever happen in your house?

    Yes, yes, yes!
The last cookie, the last perfectly ripe pear, the last clementine, the end of homemade bread. We are still working on not being so considerate to each other!
Taking half of a cookie is a clear message to the other…

No, when we had 3 kids at home there were never enough. Even now why would someone let a goody go to waste? Being thoughtful is fine but not to the point of wasting.

It doesn’t go to waste if it goes stale, there are enough feathered and pawed members of our household that enjoy a special stale cookie every once and again.

Susy, oh, yes the last any thing gets thrown away because it’s stale. Or here’s the best one, the box sits in the cupboard empty until I move it to get at something else. Drives me crazy. Or how about starting to use eggs from the next carton with only one egg left in the last one. Or cracking open the next milk carton with just a little dribble left in the old one. Yeah, you touched a nerve with me. (Big breath) Ok ok ok, I’m better now.

Have a great cookie sharing day.

Not with a cookie loving husband and 2 cookie loving kids. In fact there are times when I baked the darn cookies and never got to taste one. I am glad that they like them.

This happens all the time at our house! Most often with sweets or good beer. Then they end up going bad and everyone is sad. We need to just start remembering to split these things.

…Oh for goodness sakes, this is just more proof in how adorable you two are as a couple! :o) No, around here, my husband eats the last of anything without a second thought. It’s always been that way. I think it comes from him being one of six kids in his family so it’s more of, “get it while the gettin’s good” mentality. lol…

…And staring at that cookie makes me want one. Thanks Susy. ;o)

    …Enjoy your day!

    …Peace & blessings. :o)

We always share the last cookie too. Or piece of cake. Or whatever it is. It’s just the nice thing to do.

Unfortunately the kids typically scarf down the whole batch before my husband or I even get a bite.
