Good Morning Sunshine
With all the weather we’ve been having over the past week, the sun hasn’t shown it’s face very often. Christmas morning, it did rise up over the horizon right in front of the house. It was a stunning sunrise, especially with all the ice still lingering on the trees.
Above is the view from our upstairs window.
The morning was made even better with a batch of homemade cinnamon rolls!
One of the things we LOVE about Maine is that the sun is out almost all winter long. In NE Ohio we barely saw the sun during the winter months, they skies were always grey.
Do you see the sun frequently in the winter months?

Susy, here in Nebraska the sun does shine quite often. We have been enjoying a couple days of nice weather. Yesterday the temps topped out in the 50s. Today it will be nearly the same. I’m going to try sending it your way. Expect warmer weather in a couple days.
The sun shines so bright here that some mornings it is difficult to get my grandson to put on a coat. He will look outside and see the sun and decide that it should be warm and every year when Winter cold weather first arrives, I have to let him open the door and experience the cold blast before he will believe me. He is just not into believing everything that Grandpa tells him or any one for that matter. He has to experience it for himself. That could be a good thing in his teen years or a bad thing only time will tell.
Good grief, I see a snow storm is headed your way for tomorrow. Six to ten inches of heavy snow with ten to twenty MPH winds. That can’t be good for trees especially after a ice storm that has weaken branches. This might be a Winter to remember for you. A generator is looking better all the time, isn’t it.
Have a great Maine Winter day.

I would sit and read from your window if I had that view! My view here from my living room isn’t too shabby either, but not a mountain!
Winter in Texas is actually overcast quite often, as it is today. Sometimes it is nice to have that for a cozy atmosphere, but it can be depressing at times.

How beautiful….I love that 3rd photo of the sun peeking through the icy branches in the shape of a star…
Sun in the winter months in the Pacific Northwest?…uuummm….NO! :) Although this morning, it’s peeking through the fog and when it clears, everything just sparkles!

Beautiful pictures! Sadly, here on the west side of the cascades in Oregon, we have day after day of overcast, grey skies in the winter. And right now we are experiencing an inversion, so we are fogged in all day. That gets really depressing! Last January, we had an inversion that lasted over 2 weeks. I finally had to escape up into the cascades to go snowshoeing and find the sun. Enjoy your Winter sunshine and all of that snow. Our mountains only have 12″ at this point so the ski resorts still haven’t been able to open yet.

Lovely scenery.
Yeah, we get a good dose of sun year round. It is a blessing.

How I wish, here in the PNW, we had more sunny winter days. Most are grey. When the sun does shine it is beautiful. Enjoy your cold, but bright sun days!
