Susy, it’s sobering to think about how many wars have been fought since our country was founded and more sobering to think about how many have been killed in those wars. It just doesn’t make sense to me that the most intelligent species on the planet is the only one that kills each other with wars. Every generation seems to have their war. Vietnam was my war. Although I never saw Vietnam, I was drafted into the military and served two years behind a desk as a team clerk in Germany on a missile base. Many of those that died during the Vietnam war were draftees just like me. They didn’t choose to go to war but they sacrificed their lives just the same. Veterans that have lived through those dark times of war live with a life time of horrific memories. Those that have been killed are at least resting in peace but those still alive must continue on with life dragging the memories of war with them. Let us not forget those veterans that are still in the throes of trying to over come the mental carnage of what they have sacrificed as well.
Have a great Memorial Day
