Relax…

June 18th, 2014

Today I’m taking the day off for a bit of rest, well technically taking yesterday evening off. Mr Chiots was up at midnight or so early Tuesday morning for a fire call in the next town over. Needless to say I don’t really sleep much when he’s away putting out a fire. He arrived home around 8:30 am or so. Yesterday I spent the entire day working in the garden, weeding, thinning, planting new plants, putting up electric fences and many other things; it was hot and I was tired at the end of the day.

After a night of no sleep and a long day of physical work I took a shower and realized I was tired and didn’t have much to say. So I’m hanging up my hat for the night, enjoying a calming beverage and I’m off to bed a few minutes early hoping to tackle today! What’s my calming beverage of choice in the evening, often it’s simply a glass of raw milk or a cup of herbal tea. Sometimes I add a splash of vanilla in my beverage because of it’s reputation for encouraging sleep.

What’s your favorite calming night time beverage?

a warm cup of two young leaves of the passion fruit tea or a glass of passion fruit juice……..room temperature, a cup of tarragon tea or cup of lemon balm/spearment tea.
Monday was our no-work day after working on a four-day weekend ‘chain gang’.

I never thought of making a tarragon tea. I’m heading out to pick some right now to try it!

Red wine. One glass of red wine in the evening and I’m out like a light.

Wasn’t it a beautiful day to garden! I had a few muscles reminding me of little they’d been used lately by the time I finished.

Susy, hmmm, calming beverage. Usually, after a day of hard sweaty work relaxing with a quart mason jar of just ice cold water is the best. I have a tendency to not drink enough while physically working outside. I’m getting better but should really drink more during the day. The evening hours are spent re hydrating before retiring for the night. If I want a flavored drink, it’s usually lemonade or raspberry lemonade.

Today is back in the work mode again. Vacation is over and grass mowing will begin this morning with garden weed pulling to follow.

    Have a great resting day.

So Susy, have you considered joining the fire dept.? That way you wouldn’t need to stay home. Just a thought.

A glass of cool to tepid water with a splash of ACV, a squirt of lemon juice and a teaspoon of local honey. Or warm milk (right now I have some raw goat milk and it’s divine), preferably with a few drops of vanilla :)
