Under the Weather
I’ve been feeling under the weather since last friday, a trip to a health professional resulted in antibiotics for a nasty infection in the bone. It’s going to take a week or so to bounce back from this illness along with a follow up procedure next week, which may add a few more days to my recovery. I’m trying my hardest to give my body the rest it needs to heal. While I try to heal my body in the most natural way possible, I’m very thankful to live in a time when antibiotics are easy to come by and medical procedures are well advanced. I’m also thankful for the holistic team of medical professionals we have been able to find here in Maine.
The result of my illness is lots of time spent in bed resting, wavering between that state of consciousness and sleep, just barely aware of my surroundings. I’m tired from both the infection and the medication, this is exactly what I need right now. Most often there is a cat snuggled up next to me, which we have coined as “medicine pets”. I’m also drinking lots of tea made with astragulus, dandelion, kelp and ginger to help my body fight off the infection and lessen the toxicity of the treatment. Probiotics have also been a mainstay in my regimen, something that should help me return to full health much more quickly than without, they are well worth the expense when taking antibiotics.
Rest doesn’t come naturally to me, I’m an on the go person by nature. Being sick though, I’m quite tired, so it hasn’t been as difficult as I thought it would to spend my days resting. I still get a bit fidgety at times, so decided it might be a good time to finally tackle the rainbow merino afghan I bought yarn for a few months ago. If I have something to keep my hands busy during parts of the day I will be more likely to get the rest I need. Perhaps I’ll even be able to get it finished during the coming weeks, but I’m trying not to set a goal so I don’t feel obliged to work on it if I don’t want to.
What’s your favorite restful activity? Do you have any great immune boosting tonics to share?
Oh no. :( I’m sorry you’re not feeling well.
I nap in a sunny window when possible and drink extra Chaga tea.
Rest well.

So sorry to hear you are under the weather! I can’t imagine you sitting still, but it’s what your body need right now. I had a nasty bout of vertigo at the beginning of the year and I had to sit still for days! It was torture! I hope the infection clears up soon and you are back in your garden. I curious…..what are you doing for probiotics?

I’m using the Genestra products. So Genestra – HMF Forte during the course of antibiotics, then Genstra HMF Replenish after the antibiotics along with Genestra – Liv-gen 0.5 fl oz to aid my liver in getting rid of the toxins remaining from the antibiotics & NSAIDs. Then I’ll use HMF Forte for a few months along with naturally fermented sauerkraut, kefir, yogurt and lots of raw milk.

I hope you heal quickly! Right now, resting when I’m sick or injured is almost impossible. However, laying around and sleeping is my favorite way to recover from illness.
You’re doing all I know about doing for sickness.

So sorry you are under the weather. I like you find it difficult to stay still. I usually try to catch up on my reading or do a little knitting. Hope you’re better soon!.

I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. I have a hard time sitting still myself, so when I only want to lay down that’s how I know I’m REALLY sick. Hope you heal up quickly!

Hope you get rid of the infection and get your energy back soon. I had a bad tooth abscess with face and neck swelling last month and it zapped by energy for a bit. How did you get a bone infection, is it common, do you have diabetes?
to elizabeth's comment
No diabetes. Nearest we can tell is that I had a filling replaced 5-6 years ago and it wasn’t done quite right allowing bacteria in. I guess I’ve been fighting off any infection for a while, when I finally developed symptoms and went to the dentist the x-ray showed that the infection had spread down into my jawbone.

So sorry you’re not feeling well, but I’m glad you’re getting things taken care of–sounds pretty serious!
I also have a very hard time sitting still, so I can sympathize. Hopefully you’re not having to stay in bed during a heat wave.
My activities of choice when I have to sit still are reading, embroidering, and knitting. Audiobooks are always good, especially if you don’t want to open your eyes or hold a “regular” book.
Hope you’re back to your usual, energetic self soon! I’m sure Mr. Chiots is taking good care of you!

Oh no! Hoping you feel better soon. Medicinal crochet every 2-3 hours cures anything, eh?

Susy, sorry about the bone infection. My prayers for you are for a quick recovery. Your garden is missing you and I know that Brian is not so much the gardener. Life has many bumps in the road and I’m sure this is just a small one. I too had bump in the road with a prostate issue that modern medicine helped with. That’s the second time I’ve had to get help from doctors this year. 2014 has not been a good health year for me but as with you, it’s hard to (in my daughter’s words) keep a tough old bird like me down. Hopefully, this will be the last time a hospital visit is needed for a long time.
Have the best day that you can and therapy animals are the best, aren’t they.

So sorry you are “under the weather”. This is a tough time of year to make yourself rest. Taking time to rest to allow your body to heal, as you know, is important. May you feel better soon!

…Get Well Soon Susy! So sorry to hear that you are under the weather. I too have been ill for the past several weeks, it’s awful when you don’t feel good and it’s during the summer of all things. :o)
…So glad you have your “medicinal animals” to keep you company. My two cats have been doing the same thing for me during this time. For that I am grateful.
…Sending you lots of prayers and healing thoughts for a speedy recovery!
…Peace & blessings. :o)

sorry to hear of your bone infection. Grateful for modern medicine. I find a cup of oregano tea, morning and evening, when am down helps push me forward.
A bit of crocheting/knitting and listing to books of tape keeps me settled.
Healing energy sent to you from rainy Grenada.
