Quote of the Day: Thomas Jefferson
It is neither wealth nor splendor, but tranquility and occupation, which give happiness.
-Thomas Jefferson
Hopefully you can take find a bit of tranquility today. I find that winter makes it easier to find, it seems natural to spend more time being inactive, particularly in the evenings. Reading, doing puzzles, sewing, crocheting, coloring, all help me cultivate tranquility.
What’s your favorite tranquil activity?

I am ready for winter!

Susy, my favorite winter pass time is catching up on all those gardening books and magazines that I didn’t have time to read during the summer. Well, and of course inside projects. This year I’m still working on getting the basement back to a useable state and getting the seed starting room ready for February. I may expand the capacity of the seed starting area this year. It became a little crowded last year. Of course seed catalogs start coming around Christmas time so the planning of next season’s seeds to be ordered is a great way to spend a cold dark outside winter evening. It is a resting time but the activity level doesn’t have to decrease but instead just change from outside to inside. I’m actually looking forward to the winter months. How about you?
Have a great winter tranquil day.

I woke up this morning to our first snowfall and what a joy it is! Everyone always seems to complain about the snow, but to me it brings a sense of peacefulness and beauty. I love to see all the trees painted with a dusting of snow. My favorite activity that brings me tranquility on a snowy morning is sipping my hot tea while watching the bird feeder and all the squirells romp around outside. Shoveling snow will have to wait (although I love doing that too!)

I think I’m glad for winter this year so I don’t have to feel guilty about not being able to garden. Just snuggling and enjoying the grey days may be what I do for the next three months! Would be better if I had some of that snow to look at!
