Evening Chores

November 28th, 2014

Sometimes we need some beauty in our day to make things better. Evening chores are cold this time of year. I often wish the birds would coop up earlier than they do so I don’t have to be outside at dusk when the wind is cold.

But then there are nights like this past Tuesday when the sunset made me linger outdoors long after my chores were finished.

What things are you finding that make life a little more bearable during the not so lovely seasons?

Susy, I’m sure all your animals are glad to see you at chore time. As you know, I’m an urban dweller and don’t have chores with animals so my outside time is strictly when I want to be outside. After retirement that outside time in the winter decreased again. So now most of my outside time in Winter is just standing in front of the three bay window and watching others shovel off their driveway, heat up their cars, and drive off to work. My steaming hot cup of coffee keeps me nice and warm along with the furnace vent in front of the window blowing on my feet. Ah, yes, I have waited 45 long years to be able to do this. I’m enjoying it to the fullest.

The craziest thing for this year is I am having a desire to actually hit the snow slopes with my toboggan. It’s not having to do it because of kids or grand kids but just because I want to. Even though my grandson doesn’t live here any more, the time we spent together awoke some of those Winter activity desires that are still burning. I guess having kids around really does keep you young.

Enjoy your time in Ohio and have a great Black Friday. No shopping here.
