Friday Favorite: My Office Art

January 23rd, 2015

Last week I finally got around to finishing up the art installation behind my desk in the office. I must say I LOVE IT!!! It is my most favorite part of the house right now!
office wall 1
I love being able to see a few of my photos finally printed out and on display. I printed off a few quotes and inked some on kraft paper as well. The metal garden sing I purchased while in Seattle last year was also added, I thought it went well with the display. The best part is that I can change it as I want to since the photos are hung up with these Metal Hinge Clips. I love it so much though I doubt I’ll be changing it any time soon.

It gives me great delight to have the room painted an almost finished. This weekend I need to spend time organizing a little more and putting up a curtain over the closet which houses all my office supplies. I am very affected by my surroundings and having spaces that are neat, tidy, and pleasing helps keep me going. I quickly descend into despair when there is too much clutter, this is most likely an introvert/hsp thing that I’ll always deal with. I’m thankful that the room I spend many hours a day in is finally peaceful and calming.

Are you affected by your surroundings? Do you find you need certain things to maintain a sense of well-being and peace of mind?

Beautiful! The pictures, the sayings & the way you displayed them. I love that you can change them out. I might try this!

Yes, but I don’t have as much control over my environment as you do.

I find that clutter unhinges me too. I feel overwhelmed by the amount of tasks it takes to reduce it. Less things sure helps us get around clutter problems… but how does it keep coming back!?

Susy, clutter is non issue for me. I was married to a super clutter person that boarded on hoarder. I quickly learned not to touch her stuff. For 23 years I found sanctuary by carving out a small place in the house I could go and do book reading or later computer work. Most of the time the sanctuary was just to close my eyes and think strongly about places that had wide open land. The house now is still not totally void of clutter but much more tolerable for me. I’m not one that has to have neat and orderly to survive but I do like open uncluttered spaces. I’m more of a pile person. Piles of things to sort through later are littered through out the house. I’ll get to them some day or if I wait long enough the entire pile can be just recycled. The biggest clutter issues in my house have always been clothes, dirty dishes, and papers. Keep those under control and the house looks relatively good.

Have a great art orderly day.

P.S. I’m enjoying your art as well. Your calendar arrived a couple weeks ago. I’ve kind of missed having one the last couple years.

The “Garden” sign is absolutely perfect with your display. Good job!

I love your art installation so much!

My office is currently a huge, huge mess. My husband and kids keep dumping things in here, plus there’s too much stuff to begin with for such a small space. When I finally get things decluttered (soon I hope?) I’m absolutely going to copy you. I am a book cover artist and photographer so I’ll have prints of some of my favorite covers printed up and hung for inspiration.

    Thanks so much for sharing!

What clips did you use? I love this.

Thanks for asking, I’ll put a link in the post above. They were these small Metal Hinge Clips.

Are the metal clips held into the wall with nails? It’s hard to see in the photo.

I have a large empty frame I’m planning on hanging above my desk in my office and I want to fill it with photos like you’ve done, wall decals, or a combination of both.

    Thanks!

That never would have occurred to me! I might have to give it a try.

        Thanks!
