Here it Comes….
No doubt you’ve heard on the news about the impending blizzard. One of the great things about living simply and maintaining a pantry is that you are always prepared for big weather events like this one. I keep a stockpile of grain for the birds, freezers full of meat for us along with the dogs and cats. There’s also a pantry full of dry goods to keep us fed.
I spent the day yesterday battening down the hatches around here. A large load of grain was purchased and moved to the back porch, shavings for coop bedding is also stockpiled in case the birds have to stay cooped up for a while. Water jugs are filled in preparation for possibly losing power. Here’s hoping we are prepared and don’t need it – keep your fingers crossed with us! Stay tuned for photos, or if you don’t hear from me, we’re out of power and/or internet.
Are you forecasted to get any crazy weather from this big storm?

We have flurries this morning, our winter weather has been mild this year. Fingers crossed for you and the animals! :)

We had snow two nights ago and the temperature has plummeted today. It doesn’t look like we will be getting any more snow until Sunday.
Hope all goes well with you!

Susy, our crazy weather here in Nebraska is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Yesterday it was 59 degrees with bright sunshine and supposed to be that way again today and tomorrow. I think we have had a total of three inches of snow this entire winter season. People here are thrilled that the weather is so warm but I’m concerned because it’s not supposed to be this warm at this time of the year. It’s been this way for the last couple weeks. Who knows what February will bring. Fortunately our below zero weather before all this warm weather started has kept the ground frozen. I’m hoping for some colder weather to get us through February and into March. Yeah, that’s not a popular subject to bring up with conversations.
Have the best hunker down blizzard day that you can.

I admit I’m a little bit jealous. I grew up in Alaska and loved big storms. Stay warm, stay safe, keep your critters safe!

Thankfully, we are well out of the potential blizzard area. Stay safe, stay warm… I can’t even imagine what a blizzard is like, being born in south Georgia.

We are on the opposite side of the country, far away from blizzard country. However, we would not mind a bit of snow. We had a very warm, almost 60 degree, weekend. For us, a big snow event rarely happens, when it does it’s a big deal.
Stay safe and will be watching for some of your amazing photos!

Our weather in Oregon has been exceptionally warm and precipitation free. Like Kyle, I miss the big storms from my Alaska days. I am concerned we will not have enough snow melt this year.
My brother-in-law is a lineman however and flew to the East Coast last night in preparation for some major storm work. Stay safe y’all.
