In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lion?

You know the saying about March “In like a lion, out like a lamb”. That is not proving to be the case this year. Yesterday it snowed and snowed, then a little more snow fell. I was out visiting a friend and running errands, I almost couldn’t make it back up the driveway when I got home because it was so slick.
The spot of bare ground in my back yard is covered over once again. At least it will melt of quickly and show itself perhaps tomorrow or the day after. I remember many an Easter egg hunt as a kid with a dusting of snow and wearing winter coats. We tend to forget that spring is almost always long in coming, perhaps the anticipation gives us amnesia.
Do you have memories of Easter egg hunts with snow and warm coats?
No, but I do recall when I was about 15, coming out of Church on an Easter morning and it had snowed!

Far out! I think March came in like a lamb and went out like a lion. It was in the 60-70s early in the month and has been back to 30-50s this last little while. I admit, though I adore snow, I would go crazy if it snowed right now. My eyes are already set on sunny days :)

Here I was lamenting that it was going to rain on Sunday but I’ll take that over snow! Definitely no snowy Easters for me, but the times it did rain we just hid eggs indoors.

Susy, nope no snow here. In fact there’s no moisture to speak of here in March. We received about 1/2 an inch for the month of March which is way down from the 2.54 inch average for normal March moisture. Last year my 400 gallon rain catch water tank was full by this time in March. This year only about 50 gallons in the tank. I think it’s going to be a long year for gardening.
I don’t ever remember having snow on Easter day when growing up. The memories I have are of my family all dressed up in our new Easter clothes that Mom just bought with bright warm sun and have to stand patiently as Mom took the pictures. It’s funny how those irritating times produced some of the most wonderful pictures and became great memories later on in life. Thanks to Mom and her camera, my sister and I have a complete picture history of our lives. It was her way of journaling. I didn’t know it at the time but she was preserving our family history in picture form. I often wonder if all the blogging that I do will become a family heirloom to the grand kids and great grand kids.

No, I can’t say I have ever had a snowy Easter egg hunt. Many rainy days, and a few beautiful sunny ones.
It’s been a crazy Spring here. March has been more of a lamb start to a lion finish. We have had very little snow in the mountains, but that may change this week. Yesterday was almost short sleeve weather.
Hang in there, Spring is on her way.
