Friday Favorite: Peony Poppies
I am completely enamored by the peony poppies in my potager. I tried growing these beauties in Ohio and they just didn’t care for the soil there. Here, they thrive and that makes me happy. They are one of my favorite flowers, so delicate and lovely. I also appreciate that the pollinators love them, there’s something wonderful about seeing the bees enjoy them as much as I do.
One of the best things about these beauties is that they sow themselves so I don’t have to worry about seeding them every year. Now that’s another big reason to love them. Though I’d sow the seed myself if I had to, in fact I’ll probably save seed to sow in other parts of the garden.
What flowers are you enjoying in your garden right now?

Those are delightful, I will look for some seed to buy for next year! Yesterday in the garden, one of the humming birds was flying up to me and checking me out while enjoying scarlet runner bean and zinnias– so cool :) I love a buzzing garden.

I planted some seeds very early this spring based on your photos from last year. The peony poppies have been blooming for a couple weeks now and are beautiful, thanks! I hope they self sow like your do.

Last year, I planted crocosmia that never came up and I gave up on it. It surprised me this year with stunning blooms!

Those are just gorgeous! Don’t you just love that beautiful seed pod in the center of the bloom? I too am enjoying my crocosmia right now! And my chocolate cosmos. :)

Those are beautiful. I don’t think I’ve seen them before. Having grown up in Pennsylvania, I love Peonies. However they won’t grow here in California. I wonder if these poppies would?

Those are beautiful! I’ve wanted to add poppies to our gardens. The peony version is a must-have. We particularly enjoyed our peonies this year. They’ve been finished for awhile now, and now we’re on to lilies.
