Friday Favorite: My New Lamp
Last week my trusty desk lamp died, poof, dark. It wasn’t that big of a loss since it was a cheap lamp I got on clearance many years ago. It’s actually been broken for years, but I kept using it because I dislike spending money on things that I don’t technically need. I knew exactly what I’d replace it with, I’ve been eyeing this mercury hobnail lamp from Pottery Barn for years.
Lucky for me there was a wicked good sale and free shipping, so I ended up getting it for a song. Perfection in my little corner of the world. It makes me smile while I work, especially these days since the sun goes down at 4 pm and I need light to keep working. Now on to perhaps build myself a new desk…
Have you gotten anything lately that you’ve been wanting for a while?

I have the larger version and love it. I purchased one and was so delighted with it, I had to go back for another one! Thank goodness for those sales!

So lovely. Your wall decor leaves me in awe every time I see it.
I know what you mean about hating to buy things we don’t need, although my desire comes from the simple truth that kids grow too darn fast. Most of our money goes to keeping our kid clothed modestly. I have family photos languishing in the hard drive, in need of a frame. And I hate shopping for frames because everything is so cheaply made these days. Yesterday, I splurged though, with a good 40% of coupon, and a 25% off entire purchase, and bought a frame for our family photo last year. We like dressing up at those old time family photo studios, and last year was Bavarian themed. Can’t wait to have that picture up on our walls.
Hope you have a wonderful day.

Susy, I’ve been wanting a small round table and two chairs made from cast iron and wood for the poor man’s patio. I saw just what I wanted at a discount store for $100 but just didn’t feel like it was the right time to buy it. This summer my cousin was down sizing and gave me hers. It was a perfect fit and just what I wanted. Some times it pays to wait instead of impulse buying. Yes, i too will use some way past it’s full function use until it’s just totally unusable.
Have a great new lamp day.
