Sending Holiday Cheer

December 17th, 2015

I love sending and receiving Christmas cards. Each year I try to come up with something creative to send out and it’s funny because I always thing this will be the year I can’t think of anything…then inspiration hits.
Christmas Cards 2015 2
I’ve been wanting to do a card like this for a few years, this year was finally the year. I printed them on some really nice Linen Coverstock and glued that to some brown kraft cover stock for a sturdier final product. Mine were 5″x7″, which required trimming, but if you make them half sheets then you only have to cut them in half. I had A7 brown kraft envelopes size so I chose to cut mine down, but you can get them in the half sheet size through the same link.

I’ve been going through my address book writing out addresses and thinking about family & friends near and far. I’m also super excited to head to the mailbox each day to see which friendly faces will appear from an envelope. Holiday cards are such a wonderful way to keep in touch.

Do you send out cards this time of year?

I love this! What a fun and thoughtful Christmas card. I (and probably many other Chiot’s Run followers) will be stealing this fabulous idea for next year! Thanks for the inspiration!

One of my all time favorite cards was the one of your tiny teardrop trailer festooned with Christmas Lights….it was the only card on my fridge year round and was so cheery. Alas, it got lost in one of two recent moves, but it lives in my heart. Love your card this year and can see that the Morris family lives on coffee….lol, and love.

That was a good one. We knew our friends would get a kick out of the coffee showing up twice.

I really LIKE your Christmas card. Can I use your idea next year? I love to make my own cards (about 60 in all) but I don’t have the time to do it every year. However, this was a good year for making cards. I buy packs of Christmas scrapbook paper, and 3-D Christmas stickers, and use craft punches and rubber stamps, glue and glitter, even parts I’ve saved from cards I received. Sometimes, I decorate the envelopes to coordinate with the cards. My only problem is that I don’t always have pieces that coordinate with everything else. I occasionally make cards with Photoshop Elements and Christmas digital scrapbook kits, as well. It’s a fun holiday task.

What a great card…mugs of coffee absolutely deserve two days! I love sending Christmas cards. It’s common now to receive holiday e-cards, and I realize frugal, but I can’t help myself still sending actual cards to friends and family,

Susy, oh, yeah, I send out 80 to 100 cards a year. I don’t get too creative but this year it was a two page letter with a personal note inside the card. The cost is becoming a killer. I spent about $60 on just ink cartridges alone to print the letter and of course because of a two page letter, extra postage was needed. I’m not sure how much longer I can sustain my big Christmas card list but every one seems to like receiving one as opposed to a YouTube animated Christmas card link. Any suggestions on keeping costs down?

Have a Merry Christmas Card making day.
