Friday Favorite: Seedlings
I love seeing little seedlings pushing their way through the soil. Last week I potted up all the cherry seeds that had germinated after stratification.
I’ve been waiting for them to push their way through the soil, checking them every single day. Low and behold, I spotted the first one coming through yesterday morning. What a lovely sight! I’m really hoping these little trees do well, I have grand plans for them that involved pruning a few of them into a pleached form and planting them here and there throughout the garden.
Have you ever grown a tree from seed?

Susy, can’t say that I’ve ever started a tree from a seed except the helicopter seeds that sprout in the gutters. Does that count? I’ve only known one person to ever do that and he was quite successful starting a tree in his front yard from a seed. When You do that you plant a tree for your grandkids to enjoy, don’t you think?
Have a great tree seed starting day.

Baby cherry trees…how lovely! I’ve planted little leaf linden trees and some evergreens.
Those who plant trees, plant hope! :)

My most favorite tree I grew from seed was a ylang ylang. I really loved that tree.

Misti, you write in past tense. What happened to the tree?

My brother started two apple trees from seed. They still grow in my parent’s backyard. I’d love to learn more about your technique for starting trees from seed.
