Showing Her Age

February 9th, 2016

The old red truck is showing her age. She’s our plow truck, in fact she’s been plowing this driveway for many, many years. With our last snow storm, the 49 year old engine mounts gave out.

She’s not down for the count, parts are on order and a plan is in place. It’s amazing to have a vehicle that’s 10 years older than me still working hard around the farm.

With tender loving care and a little luck, she’ll be able to keep on trucking for years to come! Even though our other vehicles are also getting old, she makes them all look like spring chickens.

How old is your oldest vehicle?

My Tahoe is a 2011. She replaced a 2004 Yukon that is still going strong with another owner. If you can’t do the work yourself, the logical choice, IMHO, is newer and extended warranty.

Susy, I don’t have any vehicle that’s almost a half a century old. My oldest is a Ford Taurus that was made in 1998 so that would make it about 18 years old. It has 203,000 miles and counting. Ranger Rick, my pickup truck, turns 12 in May which, by the way, is my newest vehicle. He has 200,500 miles and runs like a champ. He’s the work horse for Terra Nova Gardens; the date vehicle for special events; road trip vehicle for visitations; and still the best all around little truck there is. He’s had a few aches and pains along the way but still in great shape.

Have a great replacing motor mounts day.

Driving my Seat built in 2001. It is an estate (to cart dogs, etc. around), a diesel, and has been driven close to 260 000 kilometers in it’s life so far. It is still running fine with normal maintenance.

We have a 2006 Silverado with 150k miles – and my mama mobile for carting our toddlers, a 2010 RAV4 with only 40k miles. We bought the RAV used when a drunk driver totalled our clunker of a Camry, or we’d probably still have that, and no car payment.
