A New Favorite Tool

May 3rd, 2016

A few months ago I purchased a four pack of these thermometers with probes. I needed them so I could put the probe in the low tunnel and the thermometer outside, that way I’d be able to monitor the temperature difference. They quickly became one of my new favorites tools and I’m so happy I got four of them.
There’s on under the grow light, with the probe monitoring temperature directly under the grow light and the other the temperature outside of its light. There’s another one on the back porch where I keep seedlings. It lets me know if the porch is warm enough to protect seedlings or if I need to bring them indoors for the night. The third is used with the low tunnel in the garden. I have a fourth that is not in use yet, I may give it as a gift so someone else can share the love of one of my new favorite things!

Have you discovered any new great tools for gardening recently?

Susie, this time of the year temperatures are important. I can see how those little gauges would be helpful in keeping the seedlings safe. I did buy a wireless inside/outside temperature gauge some time back but it’s still in the package. Yeah, I thought it would be really awesome at the time but I guess it wasn’t that important for my gardening operation. Our outside temps here in Nebraska are still dipping down into the 40s at night and until yesterday we had a week of rain and 50s during the day. It’s a slow start for gardening this spring but I have high hopes for planting this week. It always seems every year in May it’s a struggle to get things planted because of other family, friends, and neighbors responsibilities.

Have a great favorite tool day.

Those are pretty neat little thermometers! You could gift that last one to me if you’d like! :)
My latest great new tool for the garden is my new crinkle hose! It is wonderful…it coils up to almost nothing and the best part is that it is so light weight I can pull it around everywhere with no effort at all…one handed! :) Even if it happens to run through plantings it doesn’t crush or break them off like my old heavy hoses! I love it!
