A Long Lasting Favorite

November 8th, 2016

This spring I started a tray of Spring Cassis seeds and I’ve been blown away by their performance in the garden. They were the first things to bloom this spring and they’re still going strong. In fact, I cut a few small bouquets for the table this past weekend.

These will definitely become a staple in my garden for many years to come, I love that they’re so easy. They take the cold, they take the heat, they take the dry, they take the wet, overall they seem to be a fantastic little flower for my garden.

What new plants have you fallen in love with this year?

Susy, They look just like Pansies. It sounds like a durable plant. I hope it’s not one that tries to take over a garden. I don’t have a new plant love from this year. The ones that I like best are Holly Hocks and Crocus. Holly Hocks mainly because of my memories of my grandmother’s house and the big block of Holly Hocks beside her house. Crocus because they are the first up in the Spring.

Have a great long lasting favorite plant day.

I love pansies too with their cheery little “faces” :) That last photo of your little bouquet of pansies on the table is just lovely!
I saw a large planting of Gomphrena, (which I had never heard of) this summer while in the midwest, so I gathered some of it’s seeds that I will sow this fall. They may not like our Northwest climate but we shall see. I loved it’s stunning color!

Calendula – they live through droughts and terrible weather in upstate NY. They are the only flowers that are still blooming!
