Cat Mushrooms

April 13th, 2017

We have five cats running around the garden and they show up here and there laying about the lawn, gardens, and driveway. We call them cat mushrooms since they pop up instantly.

I do love having cats in the garden, not only are they great for rodent control but also for company. There’s nothing better than having a cat following you around the garden.

I wonder, have you noticed a reduction in the ticks you see around? My thinking being fewer rodents as hosts. We’ve promised our girls an outside working cat when we move into our new home (I’m allergic), so I’m curious about ancillary benefits.

I do see fewer ticks with fewer rodents. Since we have chickens and don’t want to foxes around, we have to do something to control the rodents. We also don’t’ have issues with mice in the house or the barn with the cats around.
