Seed Saving
Sometimes I save seed for my favorite plants, this year I’m saving in earnest. So far I have a nice collection of: hollyhock, foxglove, sage, columbine (3 different colors), poppies, and nasturtium.
As the season progresses I’ll be saving seeds for some of my favorite pole beans, tithonia, tomatoes and a few other annuals. As I’m always thinking of ways to help cover the bills of this blog without ads, I’ve been consdering saving seeds to some of my favorite no fail flowers and herbs to sell. Would you be interested in buying seeds?
Do you save seeds from your vegetables, herbs, and flowers?

Susy, I would be interested in Hollyhocks. One of my favorite memories was the amazing bed of Hollyhocks by her house. I’ve tried to grow the store bought seeds without much luck. I’ve come to understand that Hollyhocks need to re seed themselves every year to continue growth the next year. I don’t remember Grandma planting them every year but letting them seed themselves every year. I’m not sure about that method working for me. I’d probably want to move the Hollyhock bed every year. Do you start seedlings and plant them out or just seed them directly into the soil in the Spring?
Have a great seed collecting day.

Yes, I’m interested in purchasing seeds. I do save seeds, but you grow flowers I don’t and would like to try.

I think it is a great way to share hearty plants and cover bills! I would buy something I’m sure- I prefer to support small farms and local people when I can. I look forward to hearing how it goes!

I would definitely buy seeds. I’ve admired your garden and read your blog for years. This is a great way to ensure my continued enjoyment of both. Plus, I love supporting individuals rather than larger business.

I love the idea of you sharing your seeds. I’ve collected poppy seeds from my parents’ garden this summer, and I’m wondering when I should plant them. This fall? Or wait until spring?

I’d be interested in trying new seeds that are proven in this Maine climate – so yes! I’d buy some.
