New Books
I’ve been a fan of Anna Rifle Bond’s art for a while, when I saw this Puffin in Bloom collection featuring her artwork I knew I had to have it. Not being much of one to splurge on myself, I kept them in my book list for a long time. Finally, when I got a gift card I purchased them.
They’re just a sweet in person as they are on-line. I love each of these books and have read them all more times than I can count. At the moment, I’m reading Ann of Green Gables. I decided that as I wanted to reread many of the classic books I read as a girl, I’m going to buy nice copies of them. Most likely, I read them each a few more times in my lifetime. Having a beautiful copy of a well-loved book is a very satisfying thing. There are books I can read on my Kindle, but these kinds of books are not those. When I read a classic story I love, I need to turn the pages, feel the paper, the cover, and enjoy the tactile part of reading.
I agree. I love the feel of a book in my hand. Reading on a Kindle just doesn’t do it for me. I really need to pare back the number of books I own, and am slowly eliminating those that I probably won’t read again. But, I have literally hundreds of books that I’ll keep. The problem is that I keep adding to that stack!
I particularly love books that are printed on a nice paper. There is just something about the feel of a book, being able to turn the pages, seeing it sitting on a shelf bringing back good memories…

I love real books. I miss them. So many people read electronic now that I find books worth reading aren’t getting passed around anymore.

Anne of Green Gables, I grew up reading those stories and I have some very old editions of all of Montgomery’s books, they are treasures. Last summer I reread all of them, because in July my daughters, granddaughters and cousins made a trip to to PEI for my 75th birthday. What a fun time, full of memories, also had a 7 month old great granddaughter with us. I too love the feel of a good book in my hands, hope you are staying warm and safe with all the storms.

I love this set of books, but it kills me that they didn’t include the Secret Garden. That would have been icing on the cake.
