Transplanting
Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Maine, it was sunny and warm (in the low 60’s). I finally was able to transplant seedling into the garden. It seems spring may finally have arrived here in the NE, we are all very happy about that.
I transplanted a flat of spinach, some fennel, radicchio, endive, and a few other greens. Fingers crossed they’ll survive any cold night we have and we’ll be eating these lovelies in a few weeks.
Are you harvesting anything from your garden yet? How’s spring coming along for you?

We just transplanted our spinach and lettuce this past weekend as well. Feels like Spring took a long time to arrive this year and we live in Central, Illinois.

Susy, Spring is slow in coming this year and really has just given up some warm sunny days this week. I just started hardening off my plants this week and hope to put them in the Urban Ranch’s (backyard where I live) raised beds this week. I am just ready to plant potatoes this week as the soil temperature was still below 40 degrees until the past few days. Now it’s around 50 degrees. On average we get about three inches of rain in April but this year we have only received a half inch of moisture. My 400 gallon rain water collection tank was totally full last year at this time but hardly has any in it this year. I’m hoping this is not an indication of a very dry year. We are about normal moisture for the year but dropping fast. Our last rain netted us a grand total of .08 inches of rain which is barely more than a heavy dew. We could be headed into a tough year in Nebraska.
I’m glad to see that Spring has come to Maine as well and that you are able to finally start planting outside in the garden.
Have a great day digging in the dirt and planting seedlings.
