Farmers Market in Paris

May 8th, 2019

After spending a few days in the French countryside visiting gardens, we headed back to Paris for the rest of the week. Mr Chiots had a few meetings in the city, which was the reason we ended up in France. On Sunday morning, we decided to walk to the Eiffel tower and see the city as we walked. Our apartment was on the western side of the city, about a mile away. As we walked, we lucked out and ended up in a really great farmers market. If you’ve been reading here for a while, you know how much I love farmers markets, fresh vegetables, and good food.

That was the best thing about Paris in my mind. You found a lovely one with all the flowers! We stayed in a largely populated by newly immigrated families (Tunesian, Eygptian, Syrian, Irani + Iraqi) and had a lovely marche right outside our building. It had a cheese + butter maker, several butchers and farmers along with Vietnamese, Carribean, and Greek looking foods. Our neighbourhood also had these awesome butchers who had floor to ceiling rotisseries built into their walls by the front door. They would have 40 or so chickens roasting in the morning and in the bottom of the rotisserie the would throw potatoes to cook in all the dripping fat.

Made me want to do back just to tour marches and butchers.
