W is for ______________

August 27th, 2011

WORKAHOLIC – Since Mr Chiots and I are self-employed we work all the time. We work pretty much from the time we get up in the morning until we go to bed at night. We don’t take a lot of time off. Hopefully we’re reaching the point in our business that we’ll be able to take more time off.

WIFE – Mr Chiots and I have been married for 13 years. I think when you’re married it definitely becomes a big part of who you are.

WOOLEN – I love natural fibers, especially wool. You’ll find that most of my socks are wool as are all of my sweaters and many of my sweatshirts. I have wool blankets on my bed and throws on the couch.

WESTON A PRICE – After reading Nutrition and Physical Degeneration and it made a profound difference in the way we eat. We now try to follow the parameters set up in Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats. If you’ve never read either of these books I’d highly recommend them.

WALKING – I love to walk and often wished I lived a little closer to town so I could walk in to the post office and the library. A short stroll in the evening is the perfect way to end the day in my book.

V is for _____________

August 26th, 2011

VEGETABLE LOVER – I’ve always loved vegetables of all kinds. I especially appreciate growing them and seeing how they grow and what they taste like when they’re homegrown.

VIDEOGRAPHER – Mr Chiots and I are small business owners and part of our business is videography. That’s why we make videos for Ethel and other projects.

VINTAGE BOND – I’m a huge fan of vintage bond movies. Usually Mr Chiots and I spend time between Christmas and New Year’s watching all the old James Bond movies.

U is for ____________

August 25th, 2011

UNCONVENTIONAL – I’m unconventional in a lot of ways, in my ideas and viewpoints. People are often surprised by some of my viewpoints because they assume that because I ascribe to certain beliefs, I should also believe other things.

UNWILLING TO SAY CAN’T – I like to try new things and am so stubborn that I will often try things simply because other people think it can’t be done.

UNIQUE – I’ve had a very interesting life, growing up in another country, lots of interesting experiences. I’ve lived in the city and in the country. I try to celebrate my uniqueness and try not to be swayed what it’s style. It can be tough to keep your uniqueness in a society that likes homogenization and sameness.

UNSOCIAL – As an introvert, I am often described as unsocial by others. I’m not actually unsocial, I’m just limited social. I limit my social engagements because they wear me out. I don’t mind small groups of people, but large groups really wear me out.

T is for ____________

August 24th, 2011

TOMATO – I love tomatoes. I remember eating tomatoes like apples when I was little. Now I at least slice them and add a little salt & freshly ground pepper. I will always have a nice collection of heirloom tomatoes growing in my garden.

THIRTY-SOMETHING – I really appreciate being in my thirties. It’s great to be older and wiser. Some people pine for youth, I’m happy with where I am in my life. I’m sure when I’m in my forties I’ll appreciate all the knowledge and wisdom I gained in my thirties.

TEA DRINKER – I love coffee, but I’m also an herbal tea drinker. I have a wide variety of herbal teas in my pantry, I especially love the ones from Mountain Rose Herbs. I especially love their Vita Blend tea which I drink almost daily for the health benefits.

THINKER – My mind is constantly active, as a result I’m a bit of an insomniac. It’s rare that my mind is working on some issue or problem.

TRAVEL – even though I enjoy the comfort of my own home and spend a lot of time there, I love get out to see the country. I enjoy traveling and we try to take a few trips each year. We’re currently on a mission to visit all the national parks in the U.S. So far we’ve checked 10 or so off of our list and are currently out West checking a few more off of the list.

THANKFUL – I try to remember to be thankful for the things that I have. I’m a big believer that taking time to think about the things your blessed with will help you be more content and not be pining for more things.

S is for _____________

August 23rd, 2011

SUSY – My name, short for Susan – which I never go by so it’s weird when someone calls me that.

SIMPLE – the older I get the more I try to simplify my life. I’m doing pretty well. The best part of simplifying my life is that it saves a lot of money as well and it gives me more time.

SKEPTICAL – I’m very skeptical of a lot of things, always needing to read more and research before believing something. Everything I read and hear I take with a grain of salt.

SALTY – I love salt, real salt. I have a wide variety of salt, my favorite being pink Himalayan salt. We consume a lot of salt. I don’t believe the hype that salt is bad for you, especially if you’re using a good sea salt with lots of minerals.

SAVER – I’ve always been a saver, my piggy bank being one of my favorite things as a kid. I always loved heading down to the bank with my savings account book to have the teller write my deposits in. I loved seeing the totals go up and up.

STUBBORN – I can be quite stubborn in a lot of ways. Most often it comes in the form of determination, but sometimes it’s simple stubbornness.
