F is for _______________
FRUGAL – I love to save money, mostly by not spending it. There’s a big difference between being frugal and being cheap – I’m not cheap. I will spend money on quality items that last, but I’m frugal because often I will find a way to make do without instead of buying something.
FEET – I’m foot phobic, I don’t like anyone’s feet but my own. Don’t know how I became this way but please keep you feet away from me, especially if they are without shoes!

FUNNY – Remember those outtakes? As an introvert many people don’t see this side of me because I can be very reserved, especially around others. Mr Chiots and a few others get to see the funny side of me.
FRECKLES – I’m covered with them, always have been. I hated them as a kid, now I love them. They’re definitely part of who I am. Now that it’s summer and I’m outside gardening all the time they’re super dark and they multiply like crazy. I always say that if my freckles would join forces I’d have a really nice tan!
FANATIC – I can be a bit fanatical about certain things, gardening, good food, good books, cookbooks, etc.

FREE SPIRIT – I’m a little out there, different, unique. I like doing things my own way.
FEARLESS – about some things. I’ll try just about any food, jump into new hobbies & try new things. I’m not afraid of not having something work out or failing. That being said – you’re not going to find me skydiving or doing any of that kind of crazy stuff!
FLAVOR – I love flavor, the more there is the better. Give me red pepper flakes on just about everything I eat, tons of herbs and spices, lots of black pepper, lots of butter and salt. The nice thing is that herbs and spices ramp up the nutritional value of what you’re eating. Bring on the flavor!

Filed under About Me, Miscellaneous | Comments (13)My Mom’s Potager
This past Wednesday I went to my mom’s to work in the garden. The plan was to harvest all the potatoes and then to plant peas and fall broccoli, cabbage, kale brussels sprouts and cauliflower. It rained all night long the night before so we couldn’t plant or dig potatoes, but we could weed. We spent a couple hours weeding her, no longer tiny, potager garden.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know that my mom and I cultivate this garden together. She has nice rich soil and plenty of sun, two things I’m severely lacking here at Chiot’s Run. Each year the garden has grown a little larger and has finally reached it’s final size – about an eighth of an acre. We have a good time gardening together, something we both enjoy. Last year she added the cedar sun shed in memory of her mother, who also enjoyed gardening.

Sometimes I wish I lived closer to my mom so I could spend a little more time working in the garden with her. I usually am able to make it over every week to put in a few hours of garden work. It’s about an hour drive each way.
Do or did your parents garden? Have you ever shared a garden with anyone?

ENDLESSLY CURIOUS – This is why my stack of books from the library is always so tall. Curiosity drives me to try to learn to make cheese, butter, grow mushrooms, and so many other things.
ECLECTIC – probably one of the best words to describe me. I have a wide scope of things that I love from playing computer games with Mr Chiots to reading Little House on the Prairie books, from knitting to woodworking, there are so many thing that I love doing.
END OF THE WORLD – Mr Chiots and I are HUGE fans of end of the post-Apocalyptic movies. There’s something so funny about them and usually the cheesier it is the more we love it!

ENTREPRENEUR – I started my first business when I was 6 or 7 years old making popsicles to sell to all the neighbor kids. I ended up with quite a booming business which expanded into chocolates as well. I made enough money to buy Barbies and other toys. Mr Chiots and I are self employed, we started 2nd Mile Productions many years ago. We are also always coming up with new businesses that we should start, if only we had more time.
ENERGETIC – I have lots of energy, which I ascribe to my healthy diet and all the butter & bacon I consume, this allows me to accomplish a lot in my day. It’s very rare to find me sitting still and doing nothing.

EFFICIENT – I’m always looking for ways to streamline the thing I do to maximize my time. If I weren’t efficient I wouldn’t be able to accomplish as much as I do.
EDUCATED – You’ll always find me reading something educational and researching some topic. As a result my brain is filled with a lot information – most it useless.

Filed under About Me, Miscellaneous | Comments (18)D is for _______________
DEMANDING – I demand a lot of myself and have high expectations in everything I do. Although I’m learning to cut myself some slack and appreciate imperfections.
DETERMINED – When I set my mind to something nothing can sway me. Because of this I have tremendous will power.
DO-IT-MYSELFER – We’re building our own camper, don’t think I need to explain this one any further.

DREAMER – I dream of having a small farm some day with some chickens, miniature burros and some Scottish Highland cows. I even have a board on Pinterest titled “The Farm in my Mind” with inspiration and a savings account named “The Good Life Fund”.
DISTRUSTFUL – I’m fairly distrustful of government organizations (like the EPA, FDA & the USDA) and many corporations (like Monsanto, Cargill, big pharma) and the dictocrats that tell us what we should be doing. After much reading and research I’m finding that all the stuff they tell us to eat is really bad for us and all the stuff they tell us not to eat is usually good for us – like egg yolks, bacon, butter, saturated fat from pastured animals, cheese, etc. This is probably why I’m cynical and a love conspiracy theories as I mentioned yesterday.
DIVERGENT – Because of my distrust mentioned above, I have very divergent views on things – especially food, eating & health.

DILIGENT – When I set my mind to something I’m very diligent about getting it done and accomplishing my goals. I can be very focused, sometimes to the detriment of other areas in my life.
DYSFUNCTIONAL – aren’t we all in some way, shape or form?
DEEPLY CONVICTED – about the food I eat and where it comes from.

COOKING – it’s no secret that I love to cook, always have. Cooking is one of the ways I like to be Creative.
COLOMBIAN – you may not have realized that I was born in Colombia, South America. My parents are American’s, so I’m American as well, but I have dual citizenship and have a Colombian and U.S. passport!
COFFEE LOVER – I could drink coffee all day, perhaps it has something to do with growing up in Colombia and drinking coffee since I was a wee girl.

CRABBY – yep I can be crabby, especially before my cup of coffee in the morning!
CHILLY – I’m always cold in the summer. You’ll find me wearing a sweatshirt even when it’s 90 outside (perhaps that has something with growing up in the tropics).
CATS – I’m a cat lover. We have 4 cats here at Chiot’s Run, 2 indoor cats and 2 garage cats. Cats seem to find their way to our home, I supposed they can tell a cat friendly household!

CYNICAL – I have to admit that I’m a cynical person, especially when it come to politics and certain issues. That’s why I spend my time gardening instead!
CAGEY – I’m definitely wary of many things and try to take everything I read, see, and hear with a grain of salt.
CHEERFUL – despite being cynical and cagey, I’m a fairly cheerful person. In my personal life I try to be laid back and enjoy things as they come.

CHAPSTICK – there’s always one in my pocket and I get a little anxious if I forget it!
CAMPER – when it comes to vacationing I’m a camper through and through. Not that I mind staying in hotels every now and then, especially when close to big cities. But I much prefer waking up in a tent with the sounds of the birds!
CONSPIRACY THEORIES – I love a good conspiracy theory and how it engages the mind and makes you think about things a little differently – it’s quite fascinating. This is probably because I’m a huge James Bond fan and there’s always a mastermind behind everything that’s going on.
CREATIVE – I’m a very creative person, always have been. When I was a kid I drew, sewed, painted and did all kinds of creative things. That hasn’t changed up as I’ve gotten older, but some of my mediums have changed. I now use my camera most often to express my creativity.
