My First Ripe Tomato

August 5th, 2008

I picked my first ripe tomato on Sunday. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season. I plan on canning a bunch for sauces & soups this winter. (it is a Viva Italia Tomato)

So what did I do with the first one? It graced the top of our grilled pizza in thin slices. Perfect!

I am also in NEOhio in Cleveland. I got my first ripe Pink Girl tomato over this past weekend and couldn’t have been happier. This is the latest ripening that I can remember. Can’t wait for them all to start blushing.

I know, this one has been pink for so long. It looks like the floodgates will open here soon and I’ll be canning away trying to preserve them all for winter!

    Hope you enjoy your tomato!
